I used to enjoy attending concerts and services at St. Mary's - and I heard Pierre Cochereau at Grace Cathedral. What a treat! I have often wondered if any contemporary cathedrals or large churches have used any of the Parisian churches as dimensional models - including organ placement and design? French design seems to be a high-water mark - with subsequent chimeric efforts. Did Mary approve the design of St. Mary's? This is a genuine and respectful question.
I think the reason Ruffatti's had more character is the fact that Ted Alan Worth was involved with the installation.

Ruffatti organs from this time were so unique and had a ton of character... no other organs quite like them. I like it!
They're very generic organs nowadays though... what a pitty.

Dude where did you find the pics of St. Mary's organ? All of my searches come up with few results or none at all!

Try searching on Flickr :-) If I get one good search result, they usually have more in the same place. But it did take hours lol!
