I didn't watch this show till Season 3 was airing. I heard it improved a lot and boy it has. Season 1 was very procedural during it's first episodes and then once things started connecting, it got amazing. Season 4 is amazing so far.

@ariesfc2001 At first it was about solving complex crimes/events that cannot be explained. The story is very interesting and intense. If i told you what the show is about now, i'd ruin your first 2 - 3 seasons. But i can assure if you watch episode 1, you'll end up watching the whole show.

They are investigating Fringe cases (Fringe - pseudoscience). There are a parallel universe that Walter discovered in 80's. Peter was suffering from a rare disease and he died. Walter invented window to observe a parallel universe where is another versions of ourselfs in it. He stole another Peter to save him causing a war between two worlds.

@aussj4link Fringe goes beyond The X Files, true enough they are similar, but the plot deepenhs in a conspiracy beyond anything you have ever imagined before, other than dealing with supernatural, it's all man made and the plodevelops the idea of "the road not taken", which The X FIles didn't. Watch the four first episodes, give it a shoot, I assure you that Fringe is the best show on network television

The main story is about Peter (Walter's son) who was kidnapped from another universe - A parallel earth which looks exactly like this but slightly different. Because he stole a child that wasn't his is the reason of the war between two universes. This story filling together with the best actors especially Anna Torv makes it brilliant and breathtaking to watch.

It' becomes an incredibly unique show once it really gets started. It evolves past its procedural beginnings and develops quite a strong ongoing plot , and strong characters.

The only thing that really lets me down is that yes, it has the X-files grounding, but it's much more open, much more hearty so to say.

It's not the same mystique, just hollywood action rather than calm and sinister.

It's not that quesy feeling that gets to you. It should have less explanation, less obvious sience, and less cheesy.

I'm being a bit conservative here, I know, but I just feel it would add more with more mystique and plots rather than angled shots and effects.

I think this show has its own identity now which is good, its totally Fringe. Shapeshifters,multiple dimensions, the mythology, and non-government conspiracies all at once I think is original. There are many who thinks its a rip off of the x-files after watching a few episodes and are completely wrong. I definitely recommend the show,its well executed and the storyline is awesome. Also I love J.J Abrams but LOST wasn't all that, it was a good show but not as amazing as some made it out to be.
