He's a beautful human being..and it confirms Van's abruptness..which seems to go with genius often. Robert Johnson was like that..and any number of Classical masters and conductors. Ben Webster was feared by younger players. It's a story that so few people get to tell, because modern musicians are generally so shielded from the other people. I suppose because music is the gift of the divine, and no one truly knows where it comes from, or how a song or melody is born, even the masters..
