This is doing it wrong, never boil asparagus, the correct way to cook it is to fry it in a pan, if you boil it, it turns mushy and it looses its flavor, if you fry it, the taste remains in it.
yeah and if ur doing it in water dont tie em in a bundle like that, it will just take longer cause now u have a greater mass, overcooking the outside and undercooking the inside. also u dont need to fry it, cause high temperatures dry out food. u can bring fat to around 212 degrees or put the asparagus in a bag with a bit of fat and drop them into boiling water.

there's a difference between boiling and blanching. It was in the water for probably a minute.
