Gun control only works to the extent that people obey the laws. It's not that difficult to comprehend. If someone doesn't want to obey the law, he won't. The only people who obey gun laws are law abiding citizens who wouldn't murder and assault people even if the gun laws didn't exist. Gun control proponents are essentially saying that it's morally and legally better to allow someone to be raped or killed than use legal deadly force in defense against such crimes.

Most of Switzerland's population is armed with assault weapons. There crime rate is astonishingly low. Add to that the fact that Hitler went around them during WW2, and I would say that any argument which states that more gun control means less crime is ignorant. Or look at interviews with prisoners in maximun security. They say that cops don't scare them. They worry whether or not someone they are about to rob is armed. Or ask this: Do YOU want to be the person that takes anyones gun away?

She needs to get her head on straight, she lost her two kids but then again being ignorant seems to normal among democRATS these days, she had no where to run now the courts struck down the decision and gave people who don't want to victims of crime anymore in their homes, it will be a while before they make some sort of carry law for DC, Now we need to fix some of the other cities restrictive laws first.

The CDC has just come out with some significant statistics that in 2005, a

whopping 55% of DEATHS BY GUN SHOT WOUNDS were self inflicted. The US Supreme Court just ruled that any kind of gun control is a no-no. i believe the USA is encoraging people to commit suicide. We have a very sucky economy and people are going to get very depressed over losing their job and home. And there is a GUN in the house. Thank you NRA for decreasing the population. Movie Soylent Green is finally coming true.

Sorry to bust your bubble, but, Russia, Hungary, Finland, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Portugal, Sweden, Germany, Canada, Norway, Austria, Ukraine, Iceland, Cuba, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Scotland and Japan all have higher suicide rates and less guns in the home that the United States. And that's only to name a few. India has about 1% the number of guns we have and almost the same amount of suicides.

I agree in every part, except that I dont think the NRA actually advocates for suicide. Every bureaucracy wishes for more members, so that doesn't really fly.

Some people would argue that places with severe gun control have less crime. NOT TRUE. I've been to England and the cops are begging for guns.  By the way, not only are guns illegal in the UK, but ANY self-defense is illegal. If you are attacked and defend yourself, YOU will be arrested!

Why does D.C. have a high murder rate by gun? Ironically it's because they banned guns. The ban actually created a black market for guns, same effect Prohibition had on alcohol, a disaster! Combine the black market for guns with disarmed victims you get the D.C. murder rate. Good job folks.

I live in another gun-free city called New York where there is 80% less homicide than DC. The killers are in DC because they grew up there in some of the worst ghettos in America. Nobody's migrating.
