  • Although Israel is a member of the IAEA, the IAEA is not legally granted the same access in this country as it is in some other States. Israel has not acceded to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, and therefore is not bound to the same comprehensive safeguards agreement.

  • Israels safeguards agreement is limited to inspections at one facility in Israel Soreq. Since there are no unresolved issues in verification at the safeguarded facilities in Israel, the IAEA does not report on it the same way it does on Syria and Iran, for example.

  • why don't we hear anything about israeli nuclear programs?

  • for the same reason u dont hear anything about brazils and australias programs...

  • Both Brazil and Australia are members of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, both countries have a safeguards agreement with the IAEA, and all their nuclear material and facilities are under IAEA safeguards. Were the IAEA Secretariat to detect inconsistencies in the reports these countries are providing, it would report them to the IAEA main policy making body, the Board of Governors.
