Michael Mcdonald was brought in to replace tom jonhston who had to leave because of a stomach aliment. Mcdonald was sugested to the band by the other guitarist in this video (Jeff Baxter) the skunk! wearing the sunglasses. Baxter was also one of the founding menbers of steely dan.

The Doobie Brothers "ROCKED" with Tom Johnston! Michael McDonald made them sound too much like cheesy, cocktail lounge music. Whenever I think of Michael McDonald, I think of what Jake Blues said in the "Blues Brothers" about his band members being dressed in candy-ass outfits and playing silly music no one likes!
