I don't know where you got the idea it is from alcoholism? I have it and am not an alcoholic in fact only have an occasional drink. Maybe one or two drinks a month or longer apart.
I had the injection of Xiaflex last week for my right ring finger. Now, a week later that hand is almost back to normal. This procedure sure beats the alternatives. Quick, non-invasive, and very short recovery period. The only negative is the cost ($3200), but the insurance co. finally approved it after some delay..
@Photobill7 I'd be dead if I held my breath waiting for authorization approval for the the procedure. I don't know if it is delayed by the HMO or who. I'm eager to have it done because I lost flexibility of my right wrist and can't grasp anything as my fingers barely bend in my right hand and am depending on my left hand which has the fascia.
I'm ambivalent. It helped me some, however my hand has regressed since then. I'm not sure if it's the natural progression of the condition or if the enzyme doesn't last. I would talk to your doctor and get his/her recommendation.
I've just been diagnosed with Dupuytren's and found this video series by Samantha Hoffman very helpful in understanding how the new collagenase drug was used in clinical trials. I want to thank Ms. Hoffman for sharing her experience in such an open, honest way.

This is legit. You can verify it through the Dupuytren's website or through Auxillium who sponsored the clinical trials.
