  • hello

  • I had JRA when i was 6, i was born in Colombia at the time, which makes me think that i was probably the first case in colombia.

Im alright i will have a hip resurfacing in 2 month because the pain is terrible as heck.

im extremely mad with the colombian doctors because they gave me steroids for almost 9 years. as a result, my hip is totally destroy due to steoporosis.

Take care, and dont let the arthritis to affect your life.

BTW you should drink milk, that will help your calcium.

  • whats up guys i got JRA when i was 17 i am 28 now ive taken all kinds of stuff . But i started going to the indoor pool and swiming and walking in the water has made the most difference you should try it too......

  • i have jra and i just got back from a camp for it. its good to know that other people have it and are going through the same thing. i have had it since i was 7 and i take enbral injections but at least i know im not alone

  • I've had Seronegative JRA since I was 9. I've taken steroids, NSAIDs, and Cox 2, recently I started taking Glucosamine and it has helped me reduce NSAIDs.

  • i rarely known guys get JRA.. i have JRA too since 3 yrs old.. i am now 37. my condition is deteriorating. pretty bad.

  • @gelay07 I got JRA since I was 9, now i'm 39 and it's deteriorating too.

  • I feel for you man. I've had RA since I was 11. now I'm 32. Check out my channel to see my experiences with the disease. Your story sounds very similar to mine

  • i have JRA too and i understnad how you feel

  • I have a friend that has a severe case of JRA, she can't walk or move her arms because her joints are glued together. the only way that she can get around is by an electric wheel chair

  • why can't you study in california?

  • I know right i practically had to diagnose my self for them to test me for it! :(

  • ah i have RA too! my rheumatoid factor was 120 when I got my first blood tests done, which was used to diagnose me a month later when I went in to see a rheumatologist!

  • Hi there. I was diagnosed with RA a year or so ago. It's tough, irritating, and does things to you that are very difficult to even capture into words. I understand you. You're not alone. I wish you luck in everything that you do.

  • hi! i have ra as well-im 39,diagnosed at 33...tummy shots are easier,i used 2 do them in my thigh, caused bruises and soreness... i went through all the crappy testing, took 6 months 2 diagnose me... enbrel has worked well 4 me...best of luck friend-at least we have so many treatment options!my grandma didnt.

  • Thanks so much man, i got told i had it a few weeks ago and there had been months before where it was just completely ridiculous, i really agree that you can only understand what its like if you have it. Thanks again :)

  • I'm not an RA sufferer myself but my sister and mother are and there's a chance my daughter might be one day. So I was doing some searching on the subject.

This is a remarkably calm and factual video that I think many people wanting to learn about RA will find helpful. I'm especially impressed with the way you're able to talk about every aspect of how it affects your life. You seem to be a very brave and a very strong young man.

  • wowee. im just sitting here crying. i've never had anyone that fully understands what i'm going through. and everything you said just sums it up.

and, so true, 'you can't understand what its like until you have it'

    kudos x

  • I had Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis diagnosed at 11 years old and was thrown about from hospital to hospital. I was tested and tested, at one point they said I had Lupus and then some other thing until I went to Birmingham Children's Hospital when I was finally told I had Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis

I've had two sets of gold injections, I'm 20 now and it as affected my life. I have it badly in my knees and some other joints.

Thanks for the video and best of luck with your Arthritis mate.

  • Hey man, I have Rheumatoid Arthritis as well, I wasn't diagnosed until I was 39 years old, But I suspect I have had It many years, I so understand how you feel good luck and God Bless -Kenny

  • the best thing to do to try and deal with this disease is to get plenty of rest and eat less sugar and try to not get stressed out. I find taking warm baths really helps with the joint pain especially at night when it is the worst for me! Hang in there buddy.. after a few months things will hopefully look up and you will learn to manage your life around this horrible disease. I know it is tough at first but you have to be strong! take care

  • I feel for you buddy! I was diagnosed when I turned 21 and I am now going to be 23. I was originally tested just like you for lymes disease and lupus. All the tests came back negative..until I had an m.r.i done and it was then discovered I have R.A. The best advise I can give you is to not stay on prednisone for a long period of time..just from experience it can be more damaging than good. I am currently on Humira which has been a blessing and also metheotrexate...

  • hi im 12 years old and i have JRA to. ive had it since i was 18 months old. i have blood work every 6 months and i am taking 3 different kinds of medicine. i wish you luck! member your not alone.

  • Thanks for all the information I was diagnosed with this two days ago and your video has helped me understand it more. I hope we both feel better :)

  • I had this before. It was JRA.

  • Oh man, I am hla-b27 positive and Drs took 13 years to find out... I have been in a lot of pain since I was 12! Finally when I was 25 they tested me and found the problem. I thought I was crazy!... anyway, I am now devoloping AS and I will start using Enbrel from this week, lucky enbrel is free in Australia. I had a couple of injections while I was overseas and it really helped me with the pain. I was normal again! Enbrel really helps

  • I wish you the best of luck or at least better luck than I have/had, and if you ever feel like no1 understands you than I'm there with you cuz I feel like that all the time.

  • I don't wanna get you scared, since your case is a little different, but I have to be honest and say that this illness in a way destroyed my life. The biggest problem is nobody understands you. See my JRA caused me to have Glau Coma and Uwities and I recently had an 2nd eye implant (which was obviously painful), most of my friends said:" Oh that sucks." But it just goes to show that they have no clue and don't even care.

  • You've had an eye implant!!!! O M G. That more than sucks. The people that understand you are ones how have it as well. My friends don't ever mention my RA. And i've stopped talking about it with them. Infact most of them i don't see much these days. 'Take some fish oil' is what i get. Yeah right! You hang-on in there. X

  • Thats for berlinwall btw!

  • I feel your pain, I was diagnosed with JRA at 5. The illness (sorry to tell you it's not a disease) is pretty painful, I have most of the symptoms you listed - many from the side effects of my medication.

  • college on the west coast might be good 4 u...the weather being nice and warm and all. u can find a good rheumy over there I'm sure. thank you for posting this.... it's very brave of you to be upfront about your R/A. Good to know we're not alone.

  • I feel the same

    Thankyou for posting

    It means a lot..

    x

  • happy to post it ^^

  • Very moving Video. I didn't even think to look on YouTube about RA. Diagnosed March 08. So horrible that you have it so young. I'm 37, But can so related to yr Experience. I haven't had to inject yet. It sounds so painful. I've kind of isolated myself. So this is quite exciting for me. Sending you lots of love from England X

  • hey, i have JIA (yeah it is Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis, well in England it is!)i was diagnosed when i was four and i am now 17. i think its great you have done this video to tell people what you go through having this disease and its great to see some of the responses you have got! we need to get the world aware that arthritis is not just an old persons disease, it affects children a lot, not just physically, but emotionally.

Stay strong and if you ever want to talk to me you can! =)

  • yep, arthritis is not the stereotype it protrays at all x.x. it affects me more emotionally than physically o.o. the physical pain for me isn't that bad at all, it's the food triggers, brain fog, mood swings, and fatigue that really hit me hard. i really am thankful that it isn't worse than that x.x. pain is pain any way you cut it tho. to strongness :P *clink* lol

  • To strongness! *clink* teehee! yeah it used to be dairy food that triggered mine, it doesnt happen as much now...lol but its wierd thing really! x

  • I am 11 and I have JRA. I am in a wheelchair all winter long it sucks!

  • aww. that's tough :(. i hate the cold, it makes my joints all stiff <.<

  • I was diagnosed in Sept 05 and Im 18 now. I've tried prednisone, humira, enbrel.. none of its worked. Now im on kinaret, a daily injection. the PH is off, meaning its extrememly acidic and burns. I use the prilo/lido cream & ice the shot spot for about 15 min after that. i'm phobic of shots and since i have to get them daily.. this really helps. give it a try! (: Life with JRA is hard, but stay strong! It happened to us bc we're strong enough to overcome it. inspire and be inspired! best wishes.

  • My doctor told me I should take Enbrel injections on todays appointment. Starting Wednesday or Thursday I will inject myself with Enbrel.

I know you are going through tough times with RA (so am I, it sucks) but stay strong because I feel your pain and we both have RA.

  • well, Enbrel has worked for me, lets hope it works for you ^^.

  • You have to stay strong my friend. I have been diagnosed with RA when I was 21 years old and I'm 23 now. When I was 21 I could not move at all- all of my joints were inflamed and very painful. I had morning stiffness, couldn't walk properly because of the pain and I felt like a old lady.

I'm much better now but I'm still taking meds like naproxen and methotrexate (I hate methotrexate).

  • yep, the physical pain isn't fun, but physical pain for me is easy to deal with. i'd much rather deal with physical pain than the mood swings it causes. i don't let it get in the way of my life :) and it doesn't really :P. LOL, i said the same thing, i felt like i was 80 xD.

  • You will make it through. I have had it since age 5 and have made it through. It is not fun, but you are a strong person. Hang in there! :)

  • i was diagnosed with RA when i was 16, i have been experiencing all the shittyness you have. STAY STRONG! a positive attitude will help so much, its hard to live with. i struggle everyday. enbrel will help you more and more the longer you take it, i have been on it for over 2 years and my lifes starting to get back together.

  • the physical pain i can handle and deal with, it's the mood swings and things of that nature that this disease causes that really hit me hard. but i've managed to tough it out too ^^. still on enbrel.

  • yeah and im only a 13 yr old.

  • Hey my name is bree I am 15 and have systemic jra since I was 2 years old, I have been on every medicine out there. It is all thoughout my body and I was really wanting to meet some other teenagers out there who have been through the same struggles I have went though. Please contact me, I know we can relate... I'm on myspace allthatbree

  • I also have a severe form of JRA and have had it most of my life. If you ever wanna talk feel free to talk.

  • Our granddaughter is 2,has Systemic JRA,Started in her legs. They had her on Predisone 4mls 2x's a day.. then whened her down. another flare up n elbow! then they started her on Methrotraxte 1x a week orally.then another flare up in her ankle (all within several months)...now they want to put her on Enbrel on top of all of the other meds....We are very scared for her... do you have any advice for us? Are there any natural medicines that your family have tried? We are in Arizona....Thank you

  • I Have JRA, too. I was diagnosed in August 2006. I take Naproxen and I've had a few injections. It doesn't run in my family so it's hard sometimes for my family to understand the way i'm feeling sometimes. But hopefully in the future I wish to meet more teenagers who have this disease also. I'm glad that you came on youtube to discuss this. It was really encouraging.

  • i have ra and im on methotrexate, prednazone, naprozn i was dianose in april of 08

  • oh my, that's a lot of meds x.X

  • ive done those.

    methotrexate is no fun...

  • i have JRA too, i take methotrexate pills and it sucks. i had it when i was born. but they couldnt find out what the hell it was until i was 6. i have a good chance of getting Glaucoma! so every 6 months i have to see the doctor and the eye doctor. my mom,me,my grandma and my great grandma have it so it can be heredity. i know how u feel dude! im subscribing with u cause i understand your pain! cold things hurt me too so i mean warm for me is good! :) good luck.

  • I know how you feel! What's so similar to your story is my doctor took a while to figure it out too. It was indeed a scary experience. I will never forget how it all started in March of this year. Ultimately it was finally diagnosed in April and treatment commenced almost immediately. Currently I'm on methotrexate and plaquenil. Anyways, I wish you all the best with your treatment. We are in the same boat and for all those out there who have it... Be strong!

  • I too have JRA. I was diagnosed with it in spring of '07. I had almost the same feelings you had when you found you had JRA. I was really depressed for a while though. My mom had JRA since she was 12, I saw her go through alot when I was little. she passed away 4 years ago. I'm also taking the Enbrel injection, I take the pre-filled one, it hurts like hell, but like you said it is worth it.

  • oh yeah, i was VERY depressed too, suicidal sometimes in fact :/. my mom has it too, but i'm adopted so there's no connection :P. i have the pre-filled as well, my mom takes the ones where you actually have to mix it. Luckily at our age, we can go into remission :D

  • I have JRA, too! I hope that you feel better. I'm on Humira & Methotrexate injections, Humira is really similar to Enbrel and yeahh it hurtss! I put lidocaine on before I do it and that helps with the needle as well. I'll keep you in my prayers though. I hope you're doing alright.

  • ah, well thank you ^^. Lidocaine or Idocaine, i'll have to look that up. thanks a lot. good luck on remission :)

  • "Lidocaine and Prilocaine Cream, 2.5%" Lol. Thank you, you too! :)

  • honest video about something probably alot of people dont know alot about

    keep it up

    sorry
