Nice ... I've been listening to the CD recording with Kasoundra's vocal and it's been haunting me ... that's an excellent cut ... the entire CD is very nice ... thanks to you and your collaborators
@Wats4Crick Thank you for purchasing my CD and taking the time to provide some feedback. Much appreciated. Making the CD was a lot of fun. It basically got created as it was being recorded. I gave the other artist's freedom to express themselves in their own way. The final result was an enjoyable surprise for me too. Enjoy.
@cjzurcher Thank you for your comment and interest. I learned this standard tuning version from a Stefan Grossman instructional audio lesson. Visit his site for more information. Enjoy.
Very nice indeed. Have you heard Eric Bibb do this one..?? If not, please look for it. I couldn't find it on Youtube but I'm sure you'd be able to find it somewhere. I was looking for it when I stumbled upon your version. Enjoyed it very much. Keep it up man, beautiful work.
Thank you for your comments and interest. No, I have not heard his version. In this clip, I am practicing the scratch track before I went into the studio. This song appears on my CD Good & Evil. It was completely reworked with a wonderful female gospel singer. Enjoy
Very nice work. For a quality tablature ,close to this version, check out Andy Polon Guitar site.On the left meny you will find the tab on the title "New York on six strings".This is a cd by Andy with a lot great tabs, also a Dave van Ronk version of this song.Andy used to be a personal student of Mr. Ronk. On YouTube you can check out ADPolon, seeing him performing live in a coffehouse in NY 1972
Thank you for this information. In addition to myself finding it helpful, I know my friends and viewers will appreciate it. I learned this song from a Stefan Grossman Instructional video back in the 1980's during my military service days. Thanks for sharing.
@LTmattYT Yes, google Stefan Grossman or visit his site: guitarvideos
You may need to contact him because I am not sure what series of lessons contains this song. I learned it back in the 1980s while serving in the USAF. Originally it was a set of 6 audio cassette tapes. Today, they are available on CD or he may have made a video leasson. Thank you for your question. Enjoy.
Thank you. This song also appears on my music CD, Good & Evil. It is sung by a female Gospel singer, and the music was recorded again, after she sang to this original version. I recorded this, so she could decide on the key.
Very smooth playing, it is mesmerizing! This one is my favorite. I like your Come Back Baby in the standard key of A, mostly because it fits my range best. It's fun to sing along. Each key sets a slightly different mood for me with A sounding mello, C is brighter, and makes the Stella Guitar sound wonderful. For me the key of B is a bit edgier, but nice. So which key are you going with on the CD?
Thank you. It's amazing that a little shift in pitch can change so much. I'm going with the Key of A. I will be in the studio on Monday recording the scratch copy. After the vocals are recorded, I'm going to transpose a lot of these licks to Open A tuning and play Bottleneck style.
The recording went really well. Not including the intro and the ending, I just played the 12 bars around 8 times. After my vocalist records, I'll work on adding the Bottleneck slide. Later in the song, we will add upright bass and drums. Thanks for asking.
Thank you and thanks for the video. Stay tuned in. More videos on the way. My friend Bill is coming over this weekend to record duets in my parlor. Should sound cool.
No it is not original. It is an old standard that was popular during the revival in the 60's. I first heard it on a Stefan Grossman album sung by Joann Kelly.
