I met the Captain too. He took the time to sign about 10 Captain Sensible record covers for me, we were both joking and laughing. I told the groupies that I'd have signed copies available in a bit for $25 and then turned back to the Captain and instructed him to continue signing which made him laugh. I KNOW fame has never gotten to him. He's the best.
I met the Captain once,in the students union bar,Brighton.... I was a 24y.o violent punk oik back then.....Couldn`t believe it! The Captain!!!! .......Made me larrf! He was a dirty letch after the girls! (who could blame him)?

in the early 80's, my dad told me that the fella who had gotten a no 1 with 'happy talk', had sold everything he owned to make the record... well you all know how the story went... a MULTI millionaire, after bagging the no1 spot for a record breaking 3 WEEKS!.i bet he was straight back in the porn shop monday moring getting his stuff back.. imagine if you get to 'no1'.. your set 4 life. the GIRLS, MONEY, FAME!...by the way who's no1 at the moment. cliff richard i bet. the man drips fanny.
I can't understand why this wasn't a big hit, except maybe people are stupid? I met Raymond once. He was very nice to me. Maybe because I knew his real name.
can someone out there finally put me out my misery and tell me if sensible once did a song called the last mile as the sleepeaters? or was it doctor out the medics?
die hard sensible fan. anyone out there clear up a mystery for me? rubble 20 was an 80s compilation of modern psychedelia. the sleepeaters song "the last mile" sounds uncannily like sensible and jugg singing. or was it doctor from the medics? PUT ME OUT MY MISERY!!!
Captain Sensible is one of the most funny punks in the world of music. It's great to se him having fun with or without the magnificent Damned ! If his songs are not always good, his videos are !!
its pretty intresting this track as i guess its about silly people trying to reach that pot of gold on tv game shows when the captain has done that channel 5 karaoke show Night fever and also had the theme tune for Big break, its a bit double standards
i think its hysterical that he writes a song about the the pot of gold at the end of every game show following that dream etc, when he used to appear on karaoke show night fever, and also his song was used for a Jim Davidson show Big break,
I think around this period captain was forced into making "novelty" records to try and capitalise on the success of "happy talk" and "wot" but this falls flat on it's face, good video though..If you want to a proper introduction of captain musically check out his solo albums "revolution now" and "the universe of geoffery brown"
I dunno - this was after "Glad It's All Over" showed A&M that Cap could do a "real" song and have a hit... however, the tune IS a total rip-off of "Lively Arts" by this group called The Dimmed or something like that...

Wow - I thought I knew all their stuff. The Damned never sounded much like any of their peers.

Somehow I missed this one at the time - not the Captain's finest moment, but good fun!

Man i've been following the good cap and the damned for years and never heard this tune before.
Strange that he rips off his own song, silly kids games, from the black album.
Check out the universe of Geoffrey Brown, although some of the sinth sounds are a tad dated now it's an incredible album.

It's not a rip off. Same subject, different tunes. I guess he had more to say.
