@col50 all of that junk is a myth. You can get great drum sounds out of a stone walled, damp basement if you want to. It's a luxury, not even close to a necessity.

@sodium57 57's aren't too bad for hats...if the placement is in the right spot, you won't get too much snare bleed on the hat track....not ideal, but not horrible..

@sodium57 Yah i never seen a 57 on a hat before on any studio i have been in. We always used 81s and put the 57 on the snare and mostly used sennheiser 421s on toms larger than 15'' and 57s on smaller toms. but i guess its all about personal preference and personal sound.

Switch out the 414's and use them as overheads. Also, lose the 57 on the beater, the D112 has plenty of attack if it's in the drum.

@smokelahoma1 Yes, Get a condenser microphone or a large diaphragm microphone and take it to a live Gig. Use some compression and maybe just maybe some eq if needed.

Don't expect studio quality but it will make a demo for the band.

As for studio use, No really unless you want to use it as a room mic but that won't sound good without close micing techniques. Send me a PM maybe I can help ya out with a cheap recording set up

@OwensDrumming No Chiz Tommy Lee is a drummer, at the time this video was made, Tommy and some guess were doing the "Public Record" where Tommy sent out flat tracks with nothing special done to them, to the "Public" where they could do "anything" with the tracks and send them back in. He would later use these tracks on the record "A Public Disservice Anouncement"
