IItaly, Germany and Hungary...All three nations have had an impact on Croatia.
We should not forget that Croatia was in the same kingdom with Austria and Hungary...Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, which had a small part of today's Italy.
Italian language is traditionally spoken in Istria and Dalmatia (region on the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea).
1. Italians or Germans take TO0 long to learn Croatian Language,, it is extremely complicated.Try learning it,, and you'll see what I mean.
2. Croatian history is very tightly connected to both Italy and Germany, as well as geography...
3. This song is an evergreen,,, and just as you wouldn't sing "Stairway to heaven" in Turkish,, "Child in time in Chineze",, so on,, so on,, so you don't sing this song in any other then Original language.
Yes, but that's not strange.. . I don't know much famous German singers .. It where all people that are not Germans as : Vicy Leandros, Nana Mouskouri, Mireille Matheiu, Milva ... They all sing in German and have big careers there... And something else, a bit part of Croatia was for years under the occupation of the Italians ,so Italian is a wide spread language here... We where also under Hungarians, but no one sings in Hungarian :):):)

@transfobby You are absolutely right about Croat. They strive to be like Italian or German.Because they dont know much about their identity. But mostly they look like Turks.LOL
That is an insulting thing to say. Croats have close historical ties with Italy, but they don't strive to be Italian. Italians and Germans are two completely different nationalities, so which ones are we striving to be??? Looking like Turks??? If your goal is to provoke, there are plenty of wars in the world, so just volunteer !!!
Cause it is an Italian song by Lucio Dalla, who is Italian...You could translate it, but it would be never like an original....
btw..Sergio Endrigo was singing some Croatian songs, but the most popular song was "Kud' plovi ovaj brod"..And he sang it on Croatian..very good indeed:)!
