  • lickin'

  • im hard to read like graffiti , my thoughts a kill a man

  • since he brought his main man with him , let the rhythm hit em

  • Best spitter in the game. TUUNE!

  • Rakim was born 20 years too early. He would have been an absolute superstar if his career started in '06 instead of '86. But then again, would he have been considered as groundbreaking if that were the case? There would have been more MCs to compare him to, I guess. But even today, he's beyond compare. It just really pisses me off that most of the great MCs were in their prime before hip hop was commercially popular.

  • Old Skool the stuff white people can listen to.

  • @KAZNCO

    What does that mean?

  • @KAZNCO dumbest post i've ever read, by far.... explain, oh wise one, what are white people? people that qualify as caucasian? new school... diabolic, celph titled, apathy, lcob, snowgoons, loyalists, brother ali, r.a. the rugged man, vinnie paz, should i keep going? besides, what you call old school is actually new school.... run-dmc in 83 was the birth of actual new school hip hop... krs-one, ice-t, public enemy, kool g rap, etc. all took new school to a new level. btw, i'm white, & FUCK COLOR

  • peep-this - HOW.:. TO .:.RAP

  • Superb.

  • ridiculous breakbeat dance floor bidness

  • @Scikonaut lmao.perfectly put.

  • First time I heard this was on the car radio back in '90-91. (My town had a decent FM hip-hop station back then.) I had to pull over, stop the car, and just listen with a "HOLY SHIT" expression on my face until the track was over.

Bought the album the next day.

  • @classof77

lol, that;s the way I am now when I hear something that I never heard from the 90s. But that year had great Hip Hop, 80's had the heavy metal, but by the time we reached the 1990s it was mostly pop and Hip Hop. Including some grundge music. Still it was all great back at the time, still is though when you want to take a trip back to the past.

  • pure talent..!!!

  • These clowns today just wish they had this flow

  • shitts no raww!

  • One of the best to do it!

    Peace

    7 1/2

  • james brown sample + rakim lyrics = classic

  • @Sinz327 what sample did he do?

  • @abSOULuteD sounds like the payback

  • too ill... it's hard for me to listen new cats' rap..

  • Rakim's lyrics, man that shit is pure genius. Seriously. These real young cats out here that are coming into their own as rappers only need to look back and learn from the masters. This way they can hone their styles and skills and also build a vocabulary beyond the vulgarity that makes up majority of the shit I hear today.

  • this nigga came out before his time!

  • @melloprod is that a good thing?

  • to me hip hop/rap is like wine..... the older the better. today's shit SUCKS!!!

  • Rakim was so ahead of his time............ Niggas on the radio today rhyme like cavemen.

  • @JAY1BLAZE Cavemen in the 3rd grade! LOL Long live the oldschool!

  • Apparently YOU TWELVE need to be hit with something OTHER than the rhythm...smh

  • 12 people obviously couldn't let the rhythm hit'em

  • rakim rules!

  • what's the name of the song where he says "THINKING OF A MASTER PLAN."?

  • @LuiB13 paid in full

  • @lk30428 thanks

  • This master blueprint has yet to be topped.

    no one touches this

    not jay z

    not snoop

    not eminem

    no method man

    ghostface comes close but……..;-)

  • 12 suckers got a beat down by the rhythm

  • real hip hop

  • Pretocite mi u venu.

  • 12 of you clowns have absolutely NO RHYTHM!!!!!!!

  • DAMN!!!!!

  • To all the old school and real hiphop fam\ns check out my channel for the rakim know the ledge remix...peace ad 1luv to hiphop universal..

  • This man was way ahead of his time

  • @flightpos yeah there would be no suck thing as a hard rapper if it wasn't for Rakim

  • ouch! easy there rhythm!

  • the best mc of all, he could destroy anyone with just his intelligence... no curse words just real rhythm, and rhyme... let the rhythm hit em'

  • A once in a lifetime experience--Rakim & the late legendary producer Paul C at the height of their creative powers.

Just listen to those drums. That shit sounds like live playing.

  • this jam is drippin with flavor, real hip hop...most today cant touch Rakim's skills

  • SIMPLY GINIUS......

  • @ct0386 Lil Wayne can have good wordplay but his lyrics make no sense and he has no flow.

  • when rakim's on tha mic...

  • absolute mastery...!...back when rap was an art that was respected by its practioners.

  • Lyrics, lyrics, lyrics. Rakim is truely a part of The Gold Standard of Rap. One of my best of all time.

  • & u kno i did her

me and my mic hit her ;-)

  • He kills people with his rhymes... That's just genious. That's braggin that you can listen to. Not these cats today that brag with their chains.

  • I'm not a huge rap fan but I like this tune. Very cool.

  • sicket flow and rhymes

  • Strong island stand up!!

  • omg love this beat

  • This is the real shit, no 2 minute hooks, no 2 minute intros, no limited number of bars etc... straight snapping at the mic with eyes closed and spilling out everything that's on your mind with no music industry criteria to be met. If modern garbage today is classified as hip-hop then what category does material such as this fall into, just curious.

  • TIMELESS

  • Rakim, Genius, WAY ahead of his time.

  • How Can This Guy Put Such Words Together N Make A SIKKK Track

    LEGEND!!!!

  • If this beat was played pow wow style , would still bang!

  • :D

  • wats the bass sample it was use in house party freestyle for kid n play

  • AMAZING.

  • printing the lyrics does not help one crack the code

  • I remember when this came out, it was the hottest thing on the turntables, and nothing has changed since. This represents an era of real music that has sadly passed away.

  • imposible de igualar

  • this can't hold a candle to justin bieber's mad skills...

    just kidding

  • @bobstevefrank123 Just Kiddin? hes a beast dude

  • I remember buying this when it first came out and then proceeding to skate around all day listening to it .. fond memories indeed.

  • Rakim is the greatest rapper alive...This was my 1st rap tape I ever bought. The whole damn album is sick.Forever old school!!!!!! Fuck all the studio gangsta fake ass BS that's in rotation these days.Man you boyz just don't know.....

  • If Lil' wayne said he wrote this and started performing it, assholes would call him the greatest rapper of all time. Starting with the 10 that disliked this video.

  • @Carlnj74

Seems like you're jealous of Lil Wayne's success. Sucks for you, man

  • shit is fire old school 4 life

  • still as fresh today as it ever was. respect

  • THE REALNESS-RAKIM ALLAH.eric b on the 1s and 2s.james brown beat.rakim on the offensive.

  • Rakim is the god of hip hop.

  • killer track and amazing lyrics.

  • How can you possibly give this a thumbs down? Some just don't understand true lyrics

  • @easternhero255 He must be a Eminem fan. "Sucker M.C"

  • @ewood1967 To be honest, Eminem isn't so bad. Anybody but a Wayne or Flocca fan.

  • @easternhero255 Wayne is actually really good, I don't see how people get off to saying he's not. Clearly they haven't listened to more than 10 of his songs which were probably only his mainstream ones. Flokka? Why would you even mention him on this video seriously? That's wack. Go listen to real wayne. Not his radio shit

    I'm a charles fan. Fuckas

  • @ct0386 Please enlighten me on a real Wayne song please. Everything I've heard by him is sorry as fuck. He has no real talent and is proven to be a biter. Wayne sucks.

  • @easternhero255 fly in fly out and georgia bush not a wayne fan but i just dont like ignorence on any side

  • @ct0386 epic fail. lili gaynus is nothing.

  • @ct0386 Still, compared to this(this song isn't even Lyrics of Fury), Wayne is weak. Against BDK or Kool G Rap's flow and speed, he's even more weak.

  • @ct0386 , oh give it a rest why don't ya? LOL, we've heard wayne since being with the hot boyz back in 97 then his debut in 99, the big break up of cash money up until now! how can you possibly say hes really good? we've heard his mixtapes sorry the guy sucks, not to mention he had gillie da kid ghostwriting for him explains why the way he flows & spits now compared to how he was on the carter 1 & 2 is much different! wayne has no "real" shit! except realy shitty rhymes LMAO!

  • @ct0386 compared to rakim ( &many others, krs, monch, r.a. , vakill, celph, etc. ) lili gaynus is... a pile a toenail clippings left in an alley, pissed on by a stray cat & shit on by a crack ho. same goes for t.i. , akon, wack eyed cheeze, drake da fake, all that sissy, corporate, empty-v, top 40, dancefloor, club, party shit.

  • @easternhero255 there are some people that like thumb down like i like to thumb up almost every video I watch =D

  • @easternhero255 the same people who say this "Rap is just crap without the C" but most who say that are emo losers tho >.> i mean i guess i would think everything is crap if i listened to people bitch all the times in songs

  • i remember when i got this album. it was like the beginning of the end. in the words of biggie: i let my tape rock til the tape popped!

  • ...wait, so rappers used to have to know how to rap to get on the radio?

    hahaaa

  • for the longest time i was trying to quote a set of bars, but i realized i can't. Rakim killed the whole damn thing lol

  • quit with ya third eye

a diss to all rigteouss rappers those days

  • My vote for the 2012 election= Eric B.

  • I don't see how people can't see that this is the greatest song of all time...this shit is insane

  • Rakim or KANE?

Daaamnn, its complicated for me to say...

But Ra hit the rhythm with this one!

  • something. It seems to have lost it's heart and it's sad to me because i think that hip hop can be an extremley powerful podium to bring to light real problems and issues. I hope tupac was right was he said i can't make the world different but i promise i will spark the brain that will change the world. If you are lookin for an MC who says real shit check out quan on youtube he was in NAS' just a moment. he's got a couple of videos on here that are a refreshing outlook on the rap game

  • Rakim is ONE of the greatest mc's of all time. There are 2 many great mc's 2 fairly name a number one of all time because they all bring something to the table. Tupacs in you're face yet culturally sensitive lyrical content. Biggies ability to be able to paint a picture with his rhymes. KRS' rawness. I own every Nas album and will never get tired of listening to them. Common's smooth melodic delivery. Today's rap is entertainment based not substanced based and it is what it is but its missing

  • I have yet to see any rapper catch up to Rakim's cadence, not just on this song but on countless albums, and I have no idea how Eric B chopped things up to match anything Rakim spit. But I do know this ......there can never be another Eric B & Rakim

  • Classic.

  • PAUL-C

  • permanently unfucwithable...PAUL C and the RA ARE THE BENCHMARK

    accept no FALSE HIP HOP!

dear god please give us back Paul C and we'll gladly sacrifice lady gaga, chris brown, puff doody ,JAY Z ,and his overhyped cunt wife

  • The last two verses are fucking unbelievable. This is one of the hardest hiphop tracks ever and he didn't even curse.

  • this is the SHI-stuff lol i love it

  • great video

  • lol im a teen and i listen to old school all my other friends listen to garbage

  • listen to the song and slap yourself everytime rakim rhymes, your face will be in pain even though you missed half the rhymes...

  • The R.

  • hahahahahahahaha 8 dislikes. who are these people!? i want to meet them.

  • I let the rhythm hit 'em

  • I thought Rakim was over rated... until i heard some of his best songs. LIKE THIS!!! Rakim is great.

  • the hip-hop g.o.d..

  • This stuff crushes anything out there today.

  • Ask how i did him

i let the rhythm hit him

    2:19

  • How the chops did eric B sequence this?

  • I only watched this because Justin Broadrick sampled the beat for a Godflesh song called Pure. This ere is a damn fine hip hop tune though. Love Rakims flow over that wicked beat!

  • the main complaint isnt lack of variety its lack of quality

and weezydrake what are you doin on anouther rakim song?! shouldnt you be watching the new twilight trailer? i'm assuming your a 12 year old white girl.........

  • @YOYOdaMOOSE

    huh.

someone named YOYOdaMOOSE is smart enough realize and make the connection that lil sleezy and lil wack are nothing but pop music,

    the new backstreet boys.

thats just insulting weezydrakebritneyspears or whatever your name is

  • @ABOM420 New Backstreet boys? Hot Boyz have been in existence for years.

  • Pac is possibly the most influential MC ever, but he ain't the most talented.

  • Rakim is better than 2pac. Yeah, i said it.

  • @Monnett14 wouldent go that far fool

  • Comment removed

  • I'm a big fan of old school and classics like Rakim and Nas but I'm mad ppl totally diss da new school tho and give no credit to any of the few artists that accually do make good music like Lupe and such. If you listened to some of waynes stuff a few years ago u gotta agree he had some nice metaphors. But lately Wayne has been on some gay shit tho. and Drake has some pretty nice lines tho yes he is a sell out. I agree gucci and soulja sucks but dont act like the new school aint got shit

  • Touch the third rail, I'm The Pain and Remedy....

Why Try and "Bar" me..You could'nt F-U-C-K around with "Ra" with a Army..

He talking about Trying to see Him Bar for Bar ..

    melodies-unmakable, patterns-unescapable,

I haunt if want the style I possess ,

So follow me and were you thinkin' you were first?

Let's travel at magnificent speeds around the Universe.

    "Follow The Leader "

  • @madboxing : I think he says "Why try to bomb me..."...I feel you on RAKIM's finesse, but in this case the lyrics are justs a lil off.

  • haven't heard this for a while...no matter who came first or last, you still can't front on Rakim's skills...or top it.

  • rakim and wayne is a generation conflict...the same goes with 90's vs new modern stuff...and now theres this problem: taste and thats always different..but to me the old rap is the truth itself...i cant appreciate the stuff which is on da tv and radio..its not positive anymore its brain destruction i cant even describe it maybe its FUN rap or whateva but how can you build up on FUN crap? i mean its not the way it should be...

  • R.I.P. Paul C.

  • Drake has a great swagger too.

  • Rhymes Should Be - Labeled as Art - "Placed in a Museum" - My styles make Scenery - Now you See Them - "Exibit The Knowledge" - it's Packed and Filled with - Nothing illiterate - it's Facts I Build with - My Minds Untouchable which Means intangible - Contents never Dense it's Understandable - "I Study Life" so I can Live it The Right Way, no Time to Hear what another brother might say.

    Untouchable+

I'm Untouchable you See Me in 3D

Keep Out of Reach of Children

    Beware of a Overdose

  • Attention - Follow Directions Real Close - "Keep Out The Reach Of Children" - Beware of a Overdose..... He's Talking about A person Who Thinks He's A Man but Mentally He's a Child And his Message goes Over There Head Mentally cause they can't see what the meaning in his Message Really Means Mentally, Cause they slow mentally... Rakim will do the rest of this Slow - If i Speed, They Know They Blow the hell up... If i Slow up To Catch up - "Hell No"...

  • So awesome and great. A million times better than most of that chicken-shit stuff nowadays.

  • I can guaran-ass-tee you that most if not all the new rappers are fans of Eric B and Rakim. If they said they dont know who he is they'd be lying sir.
