  • I'm from north Wales (Wrexham) and many of us speak both welsh and English the south and north of wales speak different kinds of welsh because we use different words etc..... Also people from the north are the real welsh well the first of the welsh to come into the uk and we infect dont have scouse immigrants or Manchester ones either because that doesn't make sense there English part of the uk lol also we don't have many of them come into Wales well in Wrexham anyway

  • Mae Nain Duffy Yn Byw Wrth Fi :) A Dwin rili agos i Nain hi, Ond dwim yn abod duffy :(

  • I thought people from Wales speak english just like Irish/Scottish/English people

  • @ElKuku9999 welsh is older language in modern day england than english itself.....king arthur and Merlin would have spoken the language and merlin lived in modern day southern scotland........brythonic languages

  • @ElKuku9999

Welsh is a whole different language :D. And of course it's related to English, since they are both from the Indo-European language family, but Welsh is from the Celtic branch, and also the Celtic language with the highest amount of native speakers. English is from the Germanic branch. By the way, some people in Ireland and Scotland still speak in their original Celtic languages. (Irish and Scottish Gaelic).

    You should watch this ;p.

    /watch?v=NmrcKZix7w4

  • @ElKuku9999 They do, but many in Northern Wales speak both

  • @sc4portugal you got that wrong, most people in north wales just speak welsh :)

  • @Jinxedwithme This is so funny, because I live in north wales and would say more welsh speakers are in the south. Honestly, I've NEVER met a native welsh speaker in north wales, only people who are learning or are teachers. I've stayed in mid wales, and noticed a stronger accent and more welsh signposting, but you got it wrong about the north. :P

  • @TheBreadfan

Where abouts do you live in North Wales? I live in North Wales, Gwynedd to be exact, and nearly everyone speaks Welsh here. :)

  • @DistantDreamer93 Wrexham. Are we anglicised? o_o

  • @Jinxedwithme Most people in North Wales are English immigrants from Liverpool and Manchester and don't speak Welsh. ;-) But yes the native Celts are ardderchog a siarad Cymraeg yn dda iawn

  • duey?

  • sounds like turkish or japanese

  • Where's her mutation after "o"?

And BTW, she's from the North, isn't she? Our teacher is constantly joking about their nasalisation :D

  • Ofnadwy di 'terrible' neu 'really bad', diflas ydy boring!!

  • @CYMRUTUBE2 its not boring

  • Mae Duffy yn cantores hyfryd iawn, rydw i'n hoffi can "Warwick Avenue" y gorau oherwydd mae'n can hyfryd.

    Translated I basically said;

Duffy is a beautiful singer, I like the song "Warwick Avenue" the best because it's a beautiful song.

I'm fluent in English and Welsh it's great. I speak English most of the time unless I speak to grandparents, welsh teachers and the like. Duffy is brilliant by the way!

  • @Gaznugget mae mam yn hoffi duffy ond

fy hoff eminem achos mae'n arddechog ac mae'n gret y canu.

    translated i am saying:

mum likes duffy but i like eminem because hes excellent and a gret singer.

    wyt ti'n siarad cymreag eto

    CYMRU YM BYTH

    do you speak welsh

    welsh and proud

  • @Goingxxspazxx

Yes as I've said I do speak welsh, and fluent welsh for that matter. You obviously know a little but judging by your comment you're not 100% fluent. I know this because "CYMRU YM BYTH" (should be AM not YM) means "WELSH FOREVER", not welsh and proud.

Anyway, are you welsh? Or do you just like Duffy?

  • @Gaznugget the fact you only speak welsh to older people, who will die out.....is a very very bad sign to the future health of the language and this is not blaming you, I am having to relearn as family did not pass it on :(

  • @3tangle3

I don't want my grandparents to "die out" anytime soon thank you. But yes I agree with you, the launguage does look like it's heading for the worse. You have to relearn? It's good you're trying. I'm originally from America but we moved to England to get away from our country's big headedness (and violence, guns, too vast etc) but found England to be big headed too (aka full of themselves). We moved to Wales and I learnt the Welsh launguage after a year or so and love it here.

  • @Gaznugget wel da iawn i ti. :)....I live somewhere its not spoken much and its isolated so not helping. You are a new addition so that is a good upside on the other hand, but I hear so many ppl switching to english too much...their kids wont learn welsh as well if english is always used.

  • @3tangle3

I wouldn't say I'm a new addition, I've been here now for a long time. But I think Wales is beautiful, I just can't stand the English or my fellow Americans, they both think their the best countries ever, their so full of themselves. England thinks their better than America, and vice versa, and their both rubbish!

  • @Gaznugget I didnt mean ancestrally...i meant you have moved in and learnt the language being a new addition to y fro gymraeg ;)

  • da iawn duffy ti neud yn dda x

  • duffy ydy fy 3ed cousin :P wrth gwrs mae hi'n siarad gymraeg mae hi'n gan yr llyn peninsula (mae hi'n defnyddio geiriau gwynedd ond mae'n still cymraeg)

  • @tomolad93 champion

  • ahh dwi'n caru dyffy achos mae hi'n "real"

  • WOO Dyffy rydw i yn ei cari eich canauon chi.

  • @rhiixx29 wrach mai wedi ei ddysgu fel ail iaith. Mae rhan fwyaf o fy ffrindiau i wedi bod mewn Ysgol Uwchradd Gymraeg, a dyna sut mae eu hacen nhw yn swnio fel.

Mae hi'n teimlo'n od iawn ysgrifennu braweddegau yn Gymraeg. Fel arfer mae Cymraeg yn iaith dwi 'mond yn ei siarad, mae hi'n neis iawn gweld gymaint o fobl Cymraeg ar y safle yma.

    Cymraeg am byth.

  • do'n i ddim yn gwybod gallai duffy yn siarad cymraeg!

ydy hi'n rhugl? ydy neb yn gwybod?

  • wow i am very greatful, excited ,just because welsh language is still alive!

  • isn't she good at Welsh?I'm really surprises cause she's of Welsh origin, right?

  • Not all Welsh people can speak Welsh ;).

  • really sad though...I guess they have the same problem with Irish people who find it difficult to speak Gaelic (except in some parts of the country)

  • I agree, it is really sad! Gaelic is a gorgeous language by the way!

  • Tud lawr o'r ceffly na neidi! Dwi'n gwbod ei bod hi'n Gymraeg iaith gynta' - odd cariad fy mrawd yn y chweched efo - dim dadla ydwi - deud fod o'ffaith! Mai'n gwneud un treiglad yn anghywir a ti'n gwneud beirniadaeth yn syth. Dwi'n cytuno efo chdi dylai ganu'n Gymraeg, ond mi wnaeth hi drio, hyd yn oed cyn ennill Waw Ffactor, ond maen anodd iawn i rhywun wneud bywoliaeth allan o ganu yn y Gymraeg yn unig.

  • can U guys teach me some words of welsh, please?

  • yeah what do u want to know?

  • Mae Cymraeg bellach yn rhywbeth 'ecsotig' i'r Saeson, gan fod rhan fwyaf o boblogaeth Lloegr ddim hyd yn oed yn gwybod fod y iaith dal yn fyw - bod Ysgolion, Pentrefi, Mudiadau, Sianel, Radio Cymraeg a.y.b , felly dwi'n meddwl ei bod o'n beth da fod rhywun fel Duffy, Super Furries, Cerys Mathews neu pwy bynnag arall (Glyn 2 win hyd yn oed!!!!) yn dangos fod yr iaith Gymraeg dal yn fyw a fod pobl dal i'w siarad yn naturiol.

  • @rhodrigwynjones Ie diolch am hynny Rhodri, oes gen ti dystiolaeth am hyn? Dydym ni Saeson ddim mor dwp ag yr wyt yn credu. Gyda llaw, dwi'n cytuno â sylw MakeToastNotWar am fod treigliadau Duffy (neu ddiffyg ohonynt a dweud y gwir) yn hollol wael.

  • cytunaf (:

  • @rhodrigwynjones

Mae'r iaith yn mynd i fyw am achau! Mae ysgolion cymraeg yn dechrau dod yn fwy poblogaeth.

  • @rhodrigwynjones Yes the English do know, its the ENTIRE world that needs to know. Gymraeg, Iaith Yr Daith <3

Rydw i'n 17 mlwydd oed a wedi cael fy nhysgu yn ysgolion Cymraeg ers fod rydw i wedi bod yn 3, ac gan gweld fenyw mor poblogaeth siarad yn ein iaith, mae hyn yn wneud i mi'n teimlo'n falch! • @MakeToastNotWar Does anyone else think that maketoastnotwar is a patronising girl? Like I said, who cares if you can't treiglad perfectley. By correcting everything like you just did, you made yourself look like an arsehole. Da iawn ti!! ;D

  • @redheadrockchick I corrected your mutation mistakes because I found it hilarious that you got so wound up over a comment I made A YEAR AGO which, by the way, 10 people agreed with. Of course nobody mutates 100% correctly. If you get so easily annoyed by such trivial observations and if you can't take a joke then I'd advise you to stay off the internet.

  • @redheadrockchick mae'n ddigon gwir na all pawb dreiglo'n berffaith ond o feddwl dy wedi cael dy addysg i gyd trwy gyfrwng y Gymraeg, dywedwn i fod angen cryn gloywi iaith arnat ti! Yn aml mae pobl a'i dysgodd fel ail iaith(fel fi) yn treiglo'n well na Chymry naturiol.:)

  • @SophomoreSlump236 caru means love. Will also heard it spoken as "garu" in some sentences. Gives birth to the word Cariad/ Gariad which is roughly "Dear" or "Lover". Hope I helped :)

  • @ChamberMonk Thanks for replying!

  • @SophomoreSlump236 caru means love

  • Its Welsh, she's a native Welsh girl from just down the road from me.
