  • luv this vid. simple and so groovy. the best speed to get a funky deep feeling.

the best reason to start playing drum or ad more Prince covers to any set list

  • Killer groove man. I've been looking into a new ride and I play pop punk music. I've looked into the 21" Armand, but wanted to hear from someone who actual has played it. Is it good for crashing and that style of music?

  • @XxMAXYPADxX Thanks man, Yeah its nice and thin. I actually loaned it to a buddy who has been using it for a crash :)

  • I love how the keybordist is compleatly in the groove!

  • @BelieveTheWater Kevin is the man.

  • Nicely done! 4 talented guys right there.

  • Trio???

  • how do you have your toms tuned in this vid. And are those G1's?

    Thanks

  • @MrNickDrums Yeah they are G1's and I have them cranked up pretty tight to get the more jazzy tone.

  • Smooooooooooooooth!!!! & Groooooooooooovyyyyy!!!!

    I like your drum!

  • @yamashi2222 Thank you very much

  • Trio.? With Four members, this is amazing.

  • @IchMagSechs Thanks bro! The Sax player was a guest.

  • Smooth Man ! Nice Groove !

  • @reggiefine Thank you!

  • man, I like your drumming! good stuff!

  • @carlofos Thank you!

  • I love this - everytime I watch and listen to it!

  • sorry to bother you again i was just wondering what head combo you have on the bass drum

  • @Crusada54 Stock head with a vent cut in front, Evans Emad on the batter. It's no bother bro. I'm just being too lazy to get away from the computer lol.

  • @michaelcurtisjr once again thank you very much

  • also is the bass mic'd in this clip ?

  • @Crusada54 If you are asking about the Bass Drum? No it is not mic'd. If you are asking about the Bass instrument.....There isnt one, we are an Organ trio the organinst plays all the basslines with his left had and feet , while playing chords and soloing with his right hand.... Hope I didnt give you too much info! :)

  • @michaelcurtisjr yeah thank you man i meant the bass drum i am frantically running around organising stuff for a gig tomorrow night and my head is not in the right place haha, but thanks alot man, i appreciate the help

  • @Crusada54 No worries! Have a great gig!

  • i was checking out the kit like rkysl and checked the rest out totally agree with him awesme !!

  • @lalalalsksksksjdjdjd Thanks man !

  • I understand that it's called "paying your dues." But, WT.....I hope you guys get some good (and well paying) gigs. You're professionals, for crying out loud! Mike, you're THE drummer I've always longed to be.

  • @pacific707 I just saw this comment, not sure how I missed it, But thanks very much. Sadly where I live now really doesn't have much of a music scene, let alone a Jazz scene. I've been sitting on these tracks from our sessions and just haven't had time to mix them..... We all work independently, as well as together.... If we didn't we all be broke. I get a fair amount of studio work, I also consult in studios, set up project studios, you get the point.... Survival :) Seriously tho Thanks!

  • Where was this gig?

  • It was some High School graduation ceremony.... We were just providing background music :)

  • Gosh man. This is the 12th time I've watched this vid in 3 days.

  • @bobo123a !!! Kevin is coming over today to hopefully finish mixing our recording so we can get it out! Glad you are enjoying the videos!

  • awesome

  • @bobo123a Me, too!

  • Michael, you guys' version of this song is better than the original. Loving your work, man. Intercontinental Breakfast is pretty awesome too.

  • @bobo123a thanks man!

  • Hey Michael...just came across your videos today as I was researching the Gretsch Club Jazz kit. GREAT PLAYING!! Right down my alley! SO RELAXED! Keep it up!

    Cheers!

    Robb Krysl

  • Thanks Bro! It's a great little kit to drag around! Sounds great tunes easy, and very portable! Take care and thanks again!

  • hej where is the bass player !?

O.O I can hear the bass but nobody playing ...lol

  • In an organ trio there is no Bass player. The organ player has 2 Keyboards if you watch he is playing the bass part with his left hand and the chords and comping/ soloing with his right. There are very few of these groups left. Check out Joey Defrancesco, Tony Monoco, Jimmy Smith, Jack McDuff, and many more they use this same format. :) thanks for your question! enjoy!

  • check out stanton moore's trio!

  • Those are some really tight sounding drums. I think I may have to go out and get the Club Jazz after hearing it here... =)

  • Too bad I don't work for Gretsch huh? Thanks so much. if you buy one of these kits you WILL love it! Be sure to Pick up an Evans Emad. They make the kick drum sing! Thanks again!

  • simple and sweet! real tight love it!

  • Thank you!

  • What kind of evans heads are on the snare? That snare sounds amazing.

  • Batter head is a Genera Dry. The bottom is the stock D Drum head. It's pretty thin which I like. I am also using the puresound snares. Thanks!

  • No problem man, I was actually thinking about picking up a Gretsch Club Jazz tomorrow. I dont play much jazz, but I would like to know if its good for just jamming to some acoustic stuff. Maybe a little rock n roll, what do you think? Is this kit versatile enough? I wanted something nice, small, and compact.

  • I love it. I put an Emad on the kick drum. When I play Jazz i take out the muffler out, if im playing funk or rock i leave it in. My kit is about 5 years old. The newer version I think has a more shallow kick drum like a 18" x 14". I'm pretty sure mine is a 18"x 16" most people that hear it out on gigs can't believe its a 18.
