  • Would have been nice to actually see the balk in this clip, lol.

  • @adknerr Yeah if I would've seen it coming then I would've focused on the pitcher, but that wasn't anywhere close to my thought process haha.

  • this is not how a game should end. White sox are terrible. Ozzy cant take a loss for the life of him. Go Indians.

  • @KaIanari I don't see how Ozzie had anything to do with the balk-off. Ozzy hates losing, but so should every manager.

  • @KaIanari was todays lost against the Tigers how a game should end? lol

  • But in row 10

  • Hey Leeman1115, I was sitting in section 531, so we were somewhat nearby...

  • we can hear the fan saying Balk i think when he points the pitcher

  • Nice, i was at this game yesterday. only got the fireworks show on tape

  • the guy on the soxs should be a balk because he keeps moving after hes set then does 1 more step then he pitches

  • Very good video. Good quality. Props. But what camera were you using to record the game? Go Sox!

  • @WhiteSox0 Thanks a bunch! I'm glad you like it! It's a Sony Handycam DCR-SR40.

  • @Leeman1115 how far were u from the field ?

  • @cradlelian Section 533 (premium upper deck) row 2.

  • i was there and never realized what happened! so what was that last play about? could somebody explain please. I've never seen that before.

  • @crazytrebomb94 The umpire called a "balk". The camera in the vid doesn't show the pitcher when the balk happens, it's showing the umpire at 8:06 when he begins to make the call. Apparently, the batter started to step out of the box at the exact same second. A balk is when a pitcher starts his motion, then stops. Pitchers sometimes do this to trick base runners. When a balk is called, baserunners advance 1 base. Umpire said he watched the replay several times after the game, it was a balk

  • @clintonearlwalker yeah but even if they call a Balk , why do they advance 1 base? ..in this cave..giving the win to the white sox... can u explain that you seem to be well inform ...and the umpire rarely call that ... im interested in baseball since 3-4 years , and i've never saw that on TV

  • @cradlelian It's in the rule book that the runners move up a base. That's pretty much the only reason, haha.

  • @Leeman1115 i tought that maybe when there is someone on 3rd base , they do not allow them to move up a base... well . thanks for the info , and pardon my english , I'm french !

  • @cradlelian No worries, my friend :). And yeah, it doesn't matter what base the runner is on, they get an extra base on a balk! Glad to help!

  • @cradlelian That's basically the "balk" rule. If a pitchers balks, the baserunners advance one base. In this case there was a runner on third and a runner on first I think. When the pitcher balked, the runner on third was advanced to home, at around 8:09 in the vid, the umpire points to the pitcher calling a "balk", he then points to home indicating for the runner on third to advance, that's the winning run and the game is over. That's the "balk" rule, it doesn't happen often.

  • @clintonearlwalker

Now I thought the umps refused to comment?

  • @Kartkid024 It said on my Comcast homepage sports news this morning that the umpire in question watched the video replay after the game something like 7 or 12 times, and he said it was a balk. It didn't name the umpire, I didn't read very closely. That's what it said on my homepage, that's why I came here looking for video of the "balk off".

  • @clintonearlwalker

Interesting. Maybe they just meant they refused to comment after the game. But I guess later on they did.

  • @Kartkid024 I just looked for half and hour on my homepage to find that story again, I can't. I THOUGHT it said that the umpire said he watched the replays and still insisted it was a balk. I'm almost sure that's what it said, but I can't prove it and I could be wrong. I just looked on several other sites, the ump was Ed Rapuano and every site says simply the umpires refused interview requests after the game. It is what it is, sorry I couldn't find more info.

  • @clintonearlwalker

No big deal. I'll take your word for it. But I'll take a win anyway you can get it. So whatever. I still think it was the wrong call, but I won't complain.

  • haha the umpire was more pissed off than ned yost

  • First

  • Not only that, you're the first to comment "first" on any of my videos. That's awesome. And I'm not being sarcastic, I'm happy to get a "first" haha. Be proud!
