This clip brings back so many memories, I had a night burner, which I chromed, lay back seat post, mushroom grips, and peddles that completely stripped your shins of skin in the rain when you slipped and the peddles span around lol, I remember my mates stating if you buckle the sky wheels you can put them in the freezer and the buckle came out lol
Nice burners, I had an extra burner, and put red acorn freestyle mags on it, couldn't afford tuff 2's, mx 1000 brakes, and tech 3 levers, didn't have a layback though as they were a smaller diameter than the frame, belter !!!'
back in early 80s raleigh burners were seen as second rate bikes,....but they played there 4 aces when they released the aero pro,.......just as good if not better than any skyway or lazerlite anyday,.....also the original spec on the aero pro was awsome,in my book one of the finest bikes ever
Grand post. Takes me straight back to circa 1985. I obsessively leafed through the Raleigh BMX catalogue - daydreamt about where the next bike would take me. Parents were a bit tight so I had to settle for the Extra Burner, a standard burner with a paintjob. Others had the Mongoose, and the kid from the pub a WMX, or something. Serious limitations, on "long haul" most days to see old pals in a village in N Yorks. And return trip, in the wind, on the Extra. Tiring times but very special.
I'm aiming to create a Raleigh Team Chrome Burner: A bike that Raleigh never made AFAIK but I think will look cooler than a very cool thing in a cool place.
@lewis72 The Neon Burner was metallic gun metal grey with red rimmed alloys. You're right about the Mag Burner, always blue & yellow as i recall. Can't remember the night burner but the Chrome Burner rings a bell. Did it have blue pads & tyres? I'm talking abouy the range circa 1984.
I owned the one at 03:25 the Extra Burner. Only mine had steel wheels, so it felt as if you were peddling a tank.

Neon Burner? I've never heard of that one!
Was that the Mk2 range as there was also, at some point, a Mag Burner, a Night Burner and a Chrome Burner.
