  • there was once a Sparks in Manhasset?

  • In memory of Lucy & Pat DiMauro - Thursday, December 8, 2011 (C.E.), 8:33 AM (Eastern Standard Time)

  • My favorite song by this man...

  • After he gave his wife this song she asked if she gets the rights for it too and thats what sparked the idea of her becoming his manager.

  • @galihauli I thought that ws "Just the way you are"? I remember Elton finished saying it before Billy! LOL

  • such a nice hubby

  • Even I thought, huh? Did he say that. The song is wonderful though.

  • nice billy joel song

  • Since she is my home, then now I'm homeless.

  • Great song. Good lyric. Except for the "instant pleasure dome" line. I guess it was hard to find another rhyme for "home." :)

  • @jpcohen1978 Nobody cares what you think, fuckin asshole.

  • @HammernHeads Even Joel must admit that was a terrible line.

  • @jpcohen1978 I don't like that line either... thought I was the only one. lol I love this song though.

  • @jpcohen1978 I thought I was the only one on the planet that didn't like that line. sounds so perverted, but thats just me. I love the song otherwise.

  • One of my top five tracks of Joel's. Too bad there's not a quality video to accompany it, but thanks so much for the upload. Love Joel. Have listened to his music since the 70's and will die listening to Joel...

  • If I travel all my life......Such wonderful lyrics

  • I just bought the Shea Stadium concert on dvd and it's great! My only critcism is that Liberty Devito isn't playing drums, Chuck Burgi is. Burgi's a fine drummer but for Billy's music I gotta have Liberty. By the way, the version for Songs In The Attic was recorded in a much bigger place. This sounds like a fairly small venue. The Songs In The Attic version of Los Angelenos was recorded here though.

  • thanks for posting

  • I sing this song to my wife. Thank you Billy, your words are my life too!

  • u r greatest!!! fan from istanbul.....

  • Written for his first wife as a Valentine's Day gift. He was broke and this was all he could give her....what a gift we got too!! Awesome.

  • @mgpeters1992 Seriously? That's awesome.

  • Perfection!

  • Beautiful lyric, beautiful melody! Amazing artist! Gotta love Bily!

  • Just a genuine ordinary guy with extraordinary genius !

  • yeah, this totally isn't the "songs in the attic" version but it's brilliant nonetheless. the "SITA" version is seared in my brain and there are certainly different tones and ways he sings the words on this version.

  • This version sounds exactly like the "Songs in the Attic" version. I think it is.

  • @xterra43

No, it's not. Certainly it's the same arrangement, but it's not the same recording.

  • I hope they do a Deluxe Edition for "Songs in the Attic", including a DVD of the footage they filmed around this time.

  • As a fan of Billy's, I've always appreciated his inspired lyrics but here,

my God ........one of his finest hours.... with Coleridge's memento and all¡¡¡

Thanks so much for posting it********* A real pleasure to listen to it live and during these early years!!!

    So great ,)

  • Who gives a shit what album what version it came from. great song great song writer!!!

  • awesome kere awesome...

  • damn nice song!!

  • The difference is easy to hear. To me it sounds more like the Piano Man album version, not complaining about that. I love this song.

  • no its not, believe me i've been listening to him since i was about 3.

  • I can easily hear the difference, intonations are quite different at times from the Song's in the Attic version and it seems his voice is a bit lower on this one...
