@jpcohen1978 I thought I was the only one on the planet that didn't like that line. sounds so perverted, but thats just me. I love the song otherwise.
One of my top five tracks of Joel's. Too bad there's not a quality video to accompany it, but thanks so much for the upload. Love Joel. Have listened to his music since the 70's and will die listening to Joel...
I just bought the Shea Stadium concert on dvd and it's great! My only critcism is that Liberty Devito isn't playing drums, Chuck Burgi is. Burgi's a fine drummer but for Billy's music I gotta have Liberty. By the way, the version for Songs In The Attic was recorded in a much bigger place. This sounds like a fairly small venue. The Songs In The Attic version of Los Angelenos was recorded here though.
yeah, this totally isn't the "songs in the attic" version but it's brilliant nonetheless. the "SITA" version is seared in my brain and there are certainly different tones and ways he sings the words on this version.
I can easily hear the difference, intonations are quite different at times from the Song's in the Attic version and it seems his voice is a bit lower on this one...

After he gave his wife this song she asked if she gets the rights for it too and thats what sparked the idea of her becoming his manager.

Great song. Good lyric. Except for the "instant pleasure dome" line. I guess it was hard to find another rhyme for "home." :)

This version sounds exactly like the "Songs in the Attic" version. I think it is.

No, it's not. Certainly it's the same arrangement, but it's not the same recording.

I hope they do a Deluxe Edition for "Songs in the Attic", including a DVD of the footage they filmed around this time.

As a fan of Billy's, I've always appreciated his inspired lyrics but here,

The difference is easy to hear. To me it sounds more like the Piano Man album version, not complaining about that. I love this song.
