  • wy arnt you running barefooted? I've just started with it, it aint painful when u run, but walking is another thing. Anyway hope I can build up the skin under my feet to a good level until summer. Then i will conquer the archipelagos outside my city :)

  • LOL easy stuff, I prefer concrete with five fingers, the harder the better!

  • great work :-)

I really want to start this for my own as well - how did you manage to run for such a long time in FiveFingers without hurting your achilles tendon? It really hurts mine - PLEASE give me some advise :-)

    Thx

  • I had to start slowly with my 5fingers and work my way up to longer times/distances and rocky terrain. Let your feet slowly get used to the lack of support and cushioning. You have to de-condition your foot to forget the modern footwear it is used to.. ;)

  • @BARTENDAZsupport its not your Achilles tendon that is hurting, its your soleous (responsible for dorsal flexion of the foot). Just give it time and you foot will thank you for it

  • @BARTENDAZsupport Reset your milage and work your way up. You need to go back to 1-2 miles at a time with the VFFs and build SLOWLY from there to build calf strength, or else you are at risk for PF and Tendonopathy.

This will take some time, go back to running shoes if the milage reset is too much for your ego.

  • @BARTENDAZsupport

Hey go easy. If you are in pain, you have already done more than you are conditioned to. If I were you, I would rest for several days, and then go for a light 5-10min jog. If that doesn't cause you pain, then slowly add minutes as you strengthen over the next days. Be sure to stretch when done, and ice your ancles--even if they don't hurt. A good diet with plenty of anti-oxidants is also important, as is good sleep. Good luck.

  • @BARTENDAZsupport Don't land on your heels, that is not the natural way of running!

  • NIce!!

    Moderne. Lunettes foncé ! !

  • That's a very good start for this practice. How many miles total do you typically run in this workout. You look very fast.

Also, loving the Five Fingers, I've been running barefoot more often lately and I love it. That's gonna be my next running shoe!

  • nice keep going, to be strong, to be useful

  • AH! I despise running long distance in my five fingers. Good to know they work well for you, though.

  • Nice Video...keep up the work!

    Cheers!

  • Hello, this is Patrick, fellow TXPK memeber (LinuxRacr). Glad to see you digging the Vibram Five Finger shoes man. I've been walking, running, going to work, and pretty much doing everything in mine for over a year, and have recently even stopped wearing shoes when I don't have to, even in public! Great video! What park(s) were you training at? Look a lot like Dinosaur Valley State Park...

  • Everyone instinctively knows MN, the thrust of any responsible MN instruction must involve revealing this.

I have added this to my MN playlist. Now, I must go outside. If you'll excuse me...

  • wat the hell are on your feet?

  • Vibram 5 fingers. Google them- it is worth it!

  • my friend has a pair and swears by them, he wears them all the time!

  • good __))

  • God's gonna cut you down.

  • Randal, I guess most of information you got about MN is through my posts. You are quite aware I'm still working on my project and that I just cannot provide individualized support to all people and each person contacting me for tips, so it is rather you that is overly impatient. So far you're experiencing good natural training on your own which you know I support and it's all good, but yes if you start labelling what you do "MN" without a proper knowledge don't expect me to not underline it.

  • Nice video...made me a little dizzy though. I love my fivefingers!

Why are you concerned with this hebert person? He's not God...and he not very helpful...do you. :-)

  • Hebert seems to have a good deal of information/knowledge on MN but he seems reluctant to share that info but is quick to judge others who he feels lack it. It doesn't change the way I train... and I love my fivefingers too! They are amazing.

  • *sigh* I really hope you guys don't start a whole debate like the "parkour vs. freerunning"

If you want true Methode Naturalle go to Africa... That is where George got the idea from correct?

Try not to focus on the physical, if you change your mind set and truly become Altruistic, the rest will all happen naturally

Remember there is a deep and meaningful side behind all of this all...

  • You obviously do not seem to grasp Faelcind's point. This has nothing to do with the freerun and parkour debate.

  • Randal I enjoyed your video and I am glad to see other people interested in training in a natural way. Like Hebertiste though I think it is important to make a very clear distinction around the name Methode Naturelle. To make a video of your training and call it MN before you have been truly trained in it is like making a video of defense training and calling it karate you have only seen a video and some text on a website? The video is fine its just the label that should be changed.

  • Keep on training natural movements and efforts, and be patient untill I release more information.

But even after that information is released, it doesn't make that kind of video more useful, I hope you understand that, thanks :-).

  • Randal, I'm not questioning your humbleness and I'm encouraging you to keep up training a natural, complete and utility way. But again, releasing "MN" videos when you're a beginner on your own and don't exactly know what it is : doesn't help others to understand what MN is, actually it's the opposite;

doesn't help your training in any way.

  • I have read the thread on parkournet and several times on there people asked you for advice and you repeatedly told them you didn't have time to help individuals. I waited for months for you to release more information to no avail. So until then I just continue to train. I do understand the difference between natural training and methode naturelle. I want to be strong as to be useful to myself and to be useful to others and I train towards that.

  • hebertiste- I felt the posture on the rock displayed balance- (one of the 10 key skills of MN.) In the very first comment I posted I labeled myself as a beginner and even stated that I am was weak as a fresh born baby and that I am practising a art that I do not fully understand. Does that not disclaim it enough and how much more humble can I get? I am aware of who you are and what some of your intentions are.

  • Btw, if you were to train your balance skill by standing on your head upside down like in yoga, or onto a wall, head down, on one finger only like a shaolin monk, it would certainly look real nice or why not impressive, but it wouldn't make it more natural and utility from a MN standpoint, so when I tell you it's not part of MN training, instead of arguing, you should maybe think that I know what I'm talking about. Please understand.

  • Erwaan- I felt the need to make and show this video because there was only 1 video of MN on all of youtube, if not the world (the other being yours.)I want others to learn to be useful and to be strong. I also want to show my efforts with the hope that it may help/encourage others.

  • I do believe it's a GREAT thing for you to train a natural way, but since you're a beginner with no real understanding and no guidance, to me it's 100% useless to show stuff like that. Instead, train more, get strong.

But anyone showing stuff like this and labelling it "Methode Naturelle" is spreading a wrong because inaccurate image of what the Methode naturelle really is.

  • Unfortunately, I think this kind of video is a bad thing, because it portrays the Methode Naturelle the wrong way. For instance, there's some posture on a rock that looks like yoga and that isn't a utility movement at all and is NOT part of MN training.

There's no indication of what MN is, no link to a decent source of information. So my question is what is the point in filming and releasing this ?

If you need advise regarding your training, get in touch with me and I'll give you tips.

  • Randal, I'm not willing to give you a hard time here, but WHY did you feel the need to show this ? (...)

  • whats the name of that song ?

  • hey this is a great vid! great location, shots and editing! also a very nice training! it's a little obvious you train PK because the quality of your roll and the simple reception you do, i'm also starting with NM training, try to do a circuit, or a path in which you have to do all 10 excercises, you may throw what you lifted and then quad to it and so on...

  • Strange I thought I left a comment here but something must have gone wrong. Nice training video but it left out many things; walking, lifting, throwing, defence and swimming. Thats Half of the method, and I couldnt tell if you trained methodically hehe, sorry for beeing a pain in the ass ;) I'm sure erwan would kick my ass if he read me writing this ohh well keep it up man, and btw MN can be REAL even if you use shoes =) Keep it up! :D

  • I am aware of the 10 key elements and I realize that not all were shown in my vid. This video was to show the start of my training and I hope to grow in it and to become useful and for the vids to be useful. I am conscious of Erwan and his work and I wait for him to reveal more information...until then I just continue to train.

  • I appreciate the compliment. I can not consider myself to be a "true" practitioner of Methode Naturelle until I become stronger physically and in philosophy. I have been training parkour for a little over 2 years. I filmed it all in Austin, TX.

  • From the look of that superman pose at the end, you're not that weak!

Do you train parkour as well? Was this shot in Texas?

    Beautiful training location!

    John

  • I consider this the start of my training. I am attempting to practise a art I know little about and do not fully understand. I know some of the key points and I see them as values I try to hold myself to. I am still as weak as a fresh born baby. I am striving to grow physically and mentally so that I will be able to help myself and others. True MN is done barefoot. I was wearing the vibram five fingers.

"One's got to be strong to be useful, not only to oneself, but to others".
