  • I'm here because John Peel played this song on an old tape that I have. If you don't know who John Peel is, man, have you got some catching up to do…

  • Spyhunter on C64

  • This is the twangin'-est, wailim'-est version EVER! Steve Douglas is THE sax man!

  • I think this is the best version ever heard!!!

  • Goosebumps !

  • Best version of Manchini's song.

  • Duane wrecked more than one of my 1950s AM transistor radio speakers when I turned the volume up as high as it would go. Do I regret that? Hell. no.

  • HELL YES So this who made the awesome Spy Hunter sound track.Duane Eddy has got some damn good songs.

  • I always liked this recording!

  • When I was a kid, I would watch this detective show on the black and white TV and liked the theme song which was done by Henry Mancini. Later, Duane Eddy came out with this version of it, which was an instant hit on the record charts. There were only three channels to watch back then, as they were the national networks.

  • @douglas19444 Same here I lived outside Sydney, Australia in the 1960s. All you could get was 3 channels. Funny thing was, if I lived 4 doors up the street I could get about 6 channels. lol. Thats TV signals for ya.!!!

  • Who is peter gunn?

  • @SquigApocalypse Television show, 1958-1961.

I remember this music in the background as I raced along the streets of town, fighting off evil cars as they attacked me. That was a fun video game.

  • @SquigApocalypse

Peter Gunn is an American private eye television series which aired on the NBC and later ABC television networks from 1958 to 1961.

    Okay?

  • The sax player is Steve Douglas.

  • We used this to enter our wedding reception. The whole bridal party wearing shades.

Sometimes life is too cool for words.

  • @JohnJ469 not quite shotgun?

  • A better sax player has not yet been born!

  • Just listen to that low E string growl. Sounds like its at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. F*****g brilliant.

  • Memories - good ones. Who's the saxman? Couldn't have been, but reminds me of Chris Wood on Low Spark of High-Heeled Boys from Traffic. Excellence.

  • 2 people dislike this....dear oh dear!

  • Elephant walk -palindromo-anaciclico:

Odilo se omo ebbe o amor a roma o ebbe omo e solidO -perchè- I topi non avevano nipotI

    izul luzi

  • I love it! - It's such a MEAN song,

  • Gesang ist definitiv überbewertet!

  • @RegrebEwuNews Wie das? Genau die richtige Dosis!

  • I was named after him

  • This song has so much attitude and balls... it can turn anyone into a instant Badass!!!

  • too cool!

  • petrer gunn was f.b.i agent

  • blues brothers sountrack ??

  • I first heard this at the age of 13...and fell in love with it........I would go to the local Amusument Arcade in Ramsgate,Kent,England...every day and play it on the Juke Box..

  • @yuniyonson I was 15 when I did the same thing. I used to wag school to sit in our local milk bar and feed the jukebox, over and over til I must have driven the proprietors completely barmy.XD

  • I used to be in a band and we used this theme as the intro to a cover of Brand New Cadillac by The Clash - the audience loved it!

  • ...This song has that terrific sinister, gritty grind like no other...

  • Why is disliking even an option for this song?

  • Awesome, Duane got a Grammy for his song, thanks for the upload!

  • this tune wants to make you rumble!!!!!! oh or Drag race!!!

  • this tune wants to make you rumble!!!!!!

  • Ja, der Jochem Döring liebt das...

  • I love Duane Eddy's version of this classic theme.

  • They don't make them like this anymore ! Super ! Can't get enough of this kind of music!

  • WOW!

  • classic tune, blew me away first time I heard it, guitar still sends shivers!

  • 'Alone And Asleep' by Oh Sam Bin Laden - controversial new publication.

  • Magnificent.

  • jaa je bent jong en je wilt wat:D

  • this inspired also summer time blues isnt it?

  • The 1 dislike must work for the DMV. They don't like anything.

  • Eddy gets such a killer reverb tone...if I recall correctly they actually used a giant water tank to make it happen...that's a TRUE reverb. Great chops on a great Gretsch, with great tone by a great guy.

  • Mary Tyler Moore was on Peter Gunn but you only ever saw her legs. Which was her name on the show....Duane Eddy did this the best.

  • I'm buying a fucken saxophone! gonna kick ass with it all around town!

  • Does anyone remember the Peter Gunn television show? A very hip detective show for the late 1950s.

  • I respect your right to dislike a song......just do it on one worth disliking

  • chuck norris has a fist in his beard

  • @shazzaman1 please, if your gonna make a chuck norris joke, atleast make it relevant to the video? :/

  • @shazzaman1 lol

  • wow....... spy hunter...... this just blew my fucking mind, that was my favorite game as a kid, had no idea this song was actually so old and done by duane..... mind, blowen

  • Just heard on NPR this morning that Duane is releasing his first album in 24 years - can't wait. Long live rockabilly!

  • Best version ever !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ROCK AND ROLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

  • This should be Chuck Norris' theme music.

  • @trippberry

    WHY ??

  • What a sound - getting goose bumps !!

  • Oh YEAH! Steve Douglas and Duane Eddy... this is rock and fucking roll!!

  • @miraclepieco LOLZ Duane Eddy is only 1

  • I always wondered if he ever met Eddie Cochran; another great instrumentalist.

  • @charlemagne762 I just interviewed him today and the answer is yes they were great mates.

  • This is the first rock and roll song I on the upright bass. Maybe the only, in 1960 I got my electric bass after seeing Duane Eddy in concert and also bought a tenor sax.

  • Is this one of the soundtrack from the Blues Brothers?

  • Damn Duane Eddy has sick tone!

  • Eddie simplifies the bass part.

  • duane always the tops

peter gunn the best tv sound track ever

  • i get a darker feeling with this song than most. 0:00-1:23 is a normal life of a person who accidentally kills someone, then at 1:23-1:42 his dark intentions arise and he discovers in himself he is a psychopath and only his ability to kill will make him live happily. 1:44-2:35 he goes on a well executed killing spree rampage, and to this day nobody knows who/what he is. just my opinion

  • Perfect

  • the man i was named after

  • Moody stuff in a very good way. Can't you see the mean streets of a big city bathed in the neon lights after dark in your minds eye? No wonder this won awards as it fitted the show it was written for so perfectly.

  • I think it's the best version - the unique sound of duane Eddy - simply great!

  • Geeeeeeeeez will someone please upload "Tuxedo Junction" ? Methinks the Duane Eddy version is THE BEST !!!!

  • This is the best rock instrumental ever, that sax sends shivers down the spine.

  • @SuperLordjohn Say it like it is! Go Duane.

  • @SuperLordjohn I agree.

  • Duane and i are born on the same day! :)

  • @mikeyaxeman LOL

  • original pal

  • Maybe you should get off you tube and practice. We will never hear of your rotten band anyway, now go get a life and grow up fuck head!!!! one more thing I don't waste my time reading your fucked up comments on my page and you are blocked, dumb ass!!!!!!!!!!

  • @MsWS6pYHIFuwv3ol4ibS6ndospwmro7ndoihfg "what a sad little fuck you are"

Nothing to be "sad" about with all the thousands of satisfied fans my band has here at youtube. I guess there will always be one or two haters out there. One of the problems is you got to stop listening to Cajun music (they don't even sing in English!). And it probably wouldn't hurt to study some more of our videos, like those here at "number1trumpet" for instance. Hop-to...

  • @MsWS6pYHIFuwv3ol4ibS6ndospwmro7ndoihfg I had a feeling you weren't ready for modern jazz. Stop back in a few years.

In the meantime, you should check out my band's excellent rock and pop songs here at "number1covers" instead. Most people say our versions of classic hits are even better than the originals (and they're probably right).

  • my golden retriever pupp was walking to the music!!

  • LOVE this one.

  • i too am a duane fan, but heres a funny thing, in the sixties he released "guitared and feathered" but it never appeares in any compilation records

  • Fuck yeah!!!!

  • What a sound - simply great !

  • @46boobs I guess it's o.k. but sounds a little old fashioned. Might want to check my band's new Peter Gunn video - we updated and improved the sound.

  • @number1saxophone So why haven't we heard of your band?

    JERK!

  • @MsWS6pYHIFuwv3ol4ibS6ndospwmro7ndoihfg This guy is obviously just jealous of the fact that I'm in a kick ass band. Hey "MsWS6pYHIFuwv3ol4ibS6ndospwmro7ndoihfg", my advice for you is that you stop leaving comments on youtube and use that time to practice. Then maybe some day you'll be able to rock like we do.

Go ahead now, you've got work to do.

  • the bees knees

  • Great song. It's a hard days night..

  • Happy Birthday Duane another classic from the master musician

  • Catch... Duane Eddy, playing Peter Gunn at "The Ponderosa Stomp" in New Orleans, La this September. 2010. It will sound like 1959 all over again. Duane, has finished his long awaited CD called "Artifacts Of Twang" and it will be available soon.

  • @onemikehart

Duane Eddy's... all new release will be called "Road Trip". It will be available on June 20, 2011.

  • Agree Eldo. I recently bought a Duane Eddy CD but the sax solo is different and not as good. DE's records, Johnny and the Hurricanes, and surf-rock US instrumentals inspired me to take up tenor sax in the mid-60s. I used to play this with 2 mics, column speaker pa, home made fuzz box and flap tonguing - a real crowd deafener.

  • Jim Horn became the sax player for Duane Eddy in 1960. But this track is from 1959. The sax player is the late, great, Steve Douglas. He is one of the reasons I had to take up playing tenor sax. Steve was one of the best. For my money, this could be the greatest bit of tenor sax playing...period. You can't beat the 1959 original.

  • @eldorado62 The sax sounds good but stan getz played longer solos

  • @eldorado62 The sax sounds good but stan getz played longer solos

  • Saw Duane Eddy in 1960 when this was a big hit.

Sax player was just wild. All over the stage, lying on the floor, all the while belting out great music.

    Ahh, memories, memories

  • very good !! thanks for the post

  • toller song , tolle bilder .... 5 ***** lg rita
