Seeing the towers in this perspective brings back memories. Of not just the view but the emotion - everything was okay, the sight was beautiful, and you just wanted to stare for hours at its dominance. I kind of had an artistic obsession with the towers which always draws me back to these videos. Skyscrapers are a representation of how confident humans are. Our strength and determination to prove to the world that the sky ISN'T the limit - not just once, but TWICE. That's how I saw those towers.
3 Days later, I flew into JFK after celebrating the Millenium in Clearwater, Florida. We were waiting for a flight back to Brussels and I sat and watched the afternoon sun set behind the Manhattan Skyline and just to the top left of the Twin Towers. I really miss them, Superb vid, very beautiful
If this freedom tower gets built, the terrorists win twice, by permanantly disrupting airplane flying, and altering the New York skyline. Future generations should get a chance to see them, and the airports should have walk-through machines that can instantly detect explosives without body scanners or intrusive pat downs. If it works, we'll have freedom and security at the same time, as it would effectively give us a safer pre-9/11, and non-fliers will be allowed back on the airside terminals.
Now it's January 1st, 2010 and the World Trade Center Towers are gone. All we can do is look to the future as the Freedom Tower will rise, it sucks but what can you do.

Yes I am well aware of the Twin Towers 2 Plan. However, due to the Port Authority owning the site, the TT2 isn't getting built. The Freedom Tower is now almost 200 Feet so it would be unlikely for the TT2 plan to happen. I wish it was happening but life sucks.
I remember the night before. I was only 10, and in NC. But it's cool to know that when the sun came up after the night I remember, this is what it looked like.
I really wished I have flown to New York back then and visited the Twin Towers. I do hope New York rebuilds again. Rest in piece Twin Towers. I love you.
well yeah at the top, but there were also two others in each tower, at the 44th and 78th floors; these were sky lobbies that divided each tower into three sections; local elevators only operated within each section and to go between sections you had to take an express elevator that ran from the lobby to each of the two sky lobbies and from there you tranferred to your local elevator
December 2000 is the last time I visited the WTC. World trade Center 1 at the 106th floor, not 2.... but hot damn! the restaurant was so expensive! but I truly miss those towers. Freedom Tower is ugly and doesn't match the architecture of NYC

There is no year zero. Therefore, the 21st century started in 2001.
