@ashkibala1 HELL NO!!!!!! Go pay a photographer 15 grand to study with them for a year or something and learn hands on. You don't need the school like that to make it as a photographer in my mind.
@JaredPolin the tuition and fees become almost 26k. but because i am an international student, then they estimate that i need about 25k for my own expenses like transportation, books, equipments, etc. do you think 26k is worth it? i heard that it's one of the best photography faculties in the US. i agree that i don't need to go to pay that much to become a photographer but i think it can be a good start. don't you think?
@ashkibala1 honestly at this juncture no, thats a lot of money, buy some gear try on your own for a while than decide if you need school. You can make it without school.
20TB... 20000000 MB, which means over 1.3 millions 15MB-photos... Do you really get that many keepers? You could (litteraly) take 365 photos every day, in the next 10 years...
Jared, I purchased a 4 bay V2 after your videos 8 or so months ago. Couldn't agree with you more about this product, it just works! Though I did upgrade to Lion and now have a slight problem with the copy function which Drobo are looking into.
Hey Jared, I was wondering what point and shoot rugged terrain point and shoot camera you would suggest (shock proof, waterproof). I would greatly appreciate your opinion.Thank you.
I think the 4 bay is not a NAS...unless you buy the Drobo Share. I am a 4yr user of the Drobo.....So when I say this take it to heart.
You should look into Synology DS1511+ NAS Backup Storage....much faster than Drobo and a much better backup solution, along with many other functions.
Jared, check it out before you invest to much into Drobo, unless there throwing them at you for free.
i remember back i 2006 during my computer it class that all you need in a computer is 60g hard drive and ill never fill it up. Now iam rocking 3TB. Gotta love technology.
I'm annoyed with all the contests on youtube to win stuff just so someone can get more exposure. Jarred, you're awesome, but just a lot of other people are doing the same deal. x.x I'd never win so i've stopped bothering with them. :/ wtb more reviews ha.
wow, 10TB, that's good for what? 20 years of photos?

Jared, I was supposed to study photography at Brooks Institute but the annual cost is way too much. It's about $50,000. Do you think it's worth it?

I think Drobo uses Raid 5. If you have 5 2TB drives you will actually have 8 TB of usable space.

If you're planning on using the second Drobo as a mirror for the first, then you still have 10Tb effective storage, not 20Tb.
MrBerkerk 7 months ago
So much storage space... Are we trying to copy life into a computer, or what? We are going to end up like in the Matrix, damn it.
Less is more, people.

skatebaker321 7 months ago
@skatebaker321 actually I now have two so its 20 tb. I dont think it is, i have room to grow and there not that expensive to put in.
JaredPolin 7 months ago 13
@JaredPolin oh really how much for one?
skatebaker321 7 months ago
@skatebaker321 Not really..depending on what RAID type he uses the actual storage size will be a lot less.
btdown 7 months ago
@skatebaker321 10tb would be nice though. I have a 2tb drive, already using 1tb on it.
