our religion of hinduism we believe in one god hence 'om' which means one universe but that god tried to make it easy for us to understand him so he created 3 avatars of himself bhrama, vishnu, mahesh- the creator, preservor and destroyer. then from these avatars came more in every era to wipe out evil so that a lesson can be learnt that good will always prevail hebce we have so many 'gods'
