  • in A major---i played this when i was a kid

  • Benny --aún- eres -el -mejor

  • One of my favorite pieces - Mozarts Clarinet Concerto... I have the CD with Benny playing.

  • Krupa chewing gum tells the whole story about Mozart in this movie.

  • THIS IS THE CUTEST MOVIE

  • I suppose the guy's not actually playing...his fingerings don't match

  • @xinx03ovcm Looks fine to me. There might be a bit of lag between the video and audio, that happens quite a bit on Youtube.

  • For those interested in hearing the complete recording of Goodman in this concerto, it's available on the CD "Mozart at Tanglewood," which also includes the Clarinet Quintet. Good 1955-56 stereo recording.

  • @SportzNut21 thanks, is this EJG perfecting those notes.

  • Listen to someone like Ernst Ottensamer playing this and you`ll instantly notice the difference in the quality of tone. Yes BG was classically trained, but he lost the mellowness required for Mozart.

Don`t get me wrong. BG was a superb musician, one of my favourites, but with the music he was born to play...jazz and swing. He wasn`t called the King of Swing for nothing.

  • Gene Krupa always chewing haha

  • I think it's terrific, a jazz player interpretng mozart, he did very well, better than many classical players

  • @indubiosum That's because he studied classical music. Not just jazz. Jazz is just what he got called for gig-wise mainly.

  • @indubiosum the actor is a famous classical player....he is playing BG in the film. (wink).

  • Best comment: "IT'S WATER!!" hahahaha

  • You can really hear on his tone that he's a jazzclarinettist :)

  • the fingerings aren't right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @jerchiury and how do u kno that =/

  • @jerchiury thats because its an actor

  • @jerchiury It's not Benny Goodman portraying himself. It's Steve Allen. It's like Forest Whitaker in Bird portraying Charlie Parker

  • @coolma41 also a pal of mine who is known in classical circles is blowing perfect notes in this film. (wink).

  • Where'd the half of the movement they cut go?

And I love how we hear a basset-length (C an octave below middle c) clarinet when a regular length soprano (E immediately below middle C) is what the actor's playing...hmmm...

  • 1:40の顔ぶれがすごいですね。スタン・ゲッツまでいる。

  • ここ最高だった

  • Thank you for this excerpt - now I might watch the whole movie. :)
