Honestly I think Scalia and Ginsberg have the right approach, they have completely different Judical philosophys and disagree with the majority of what the other thinks when it comes to the constitution and yet they are best friends. In Scalia's words, "I attack ideas I dont attack people" and "Some very good people have some very bad ideas"
He and Ginsberg seperate the two and never take it personally, now if only members of Congress and the executive could do the same thing
O Glorious St. Thomas More, Patron of Statesmen, Politicians, Judges and Lawyers, your life of prayer and penance and your zeal for justice, integrity and firm principle in public and family life led you to the path of martyrdom and sainthood. Intercede for our Statesmen, Politicians, Judges and Lawyers, that they may be courageous and effective in their defense and promotion of the sanctity of human life - the foundation of all other human rights. We ask this through Christ our Lord. AMEN
why does the audio skip when he begins to speak about abortion, at 4:36? Please fix this as you cannot understand what he says here in this most important issue- what the constitution does or does not say about abortion.
i need to say to mr scalia, look at the military who torture and murder iraqis and afghani people... don't you feel, just abit sad for them and their families? imagine your children, abducted and treated like that? take a look at the demolition of the 3 buildings at the world trade centre... sir, how, can good men and women, honestly, allow that mass murder, to occur, and keep silent? you must know the establishment is moving the world to a one world government, that will remove all rights?
@iluvsystemofadown Individuals have first amendment rights, so people who run corporations have first amendment rights. But that doesn't address my original question unless you can show me that he struck down a constitutional law (or allowed an unconstitutional law) relevant to corporations and speech. Just because you disagree with a a person philosophically, it doesn't make that person an activist.
Met him at my old University UCD (Ireland). We have a living Constitution so it was great to hear the other side, and he made some great arguments for his point of view. He also doesn't suffer fools gladly and put down the hippies trying to ruffle him with aplomb.
Gee, Scalia is a really nice, decent and lovable guy. Too bad he sits on a committee where he can influence the lives of so many people with a corrupt judicial philosophy.
LOL, "corrupt judicial philosophy"... YOu know the historical revisionists are hard at work when a philosophy that treats the text and history of the Constitution with respect is portrayed as evil or illegitimate
@cwbweeks Anyone who truly wants to treat the Constitution with respect would understand that its most important attribute is that it is mutable and can be changed as society changes. Conservatives who treat it like a sacred religious text completely missing the point.
Thank you for posting this, CBS.

He's a good man. Sadly I don't think society today could produce another Scalia.

Scalia is scum. Hangs out with Cheney and the other war criminals. He is for corporate America not the people

Scalia is the most interesting of all the Justices. He is sincere, true, and compelling to me. I dont know why but he seems fascinating to me.

I love Scalia a whole lot, a whole lot, but William H. Rehnquist is my hero. Sad day when he died.

Scalia is what FOX & Friends would refer to as an "activist judge", but they don't. I wonder why...
TheConcernedPatriot 2 years ago
@TheConcernedPatriot Can you explain how Scalia is an activist judge? I don't know enough about his rulings to make that determination.

@HerrSchenkel Yes, he is. Explain to me how corporations have 1st amendments rights?

I disagree with Scalia's philosophy, but he's a pretty nice, interesting guy. Guess that's what he means when he says he attacks ideas, not people.

Thank you sir, Thank you Mr. Scalia for defending our freedom. I'm thankful.

Scalia is amazing. A true originalist! Someone who cares, truly, about the text of the document!

@cwbweeks since the founding fathers of the constitution wanted the innocent to be executed. . . this guy is corrupt and all about the money.
