Most of you have probably figured out by now that r.edward31@... (aka RiffKing contestant and wacko conspiracy self-promotor justplayman, aka Russell Edward) has been booted off RiffKingList for abusing the forum.
He's since moved on to spamming the riffkinglist comments section on YouTube, and having been locked out of that appears to have moved on wasting everyone's time with spam comments in the YouTube "Master Backing video.
...And no, I have no idea what that guy's all about, except that he's quite the joker. I recommend marking his posts as spam, since that's what they are.
On another note, welcome back from the Memorial Day Weekend everyone - I was hoping I might have received a final email from Sir Jay regarding who we should contact at SPV regarding the contest, but no. Just covering for the label, I would think - it doesn't look good.
The best source for news and gossip about the contest is the Riff King Crusaders Group on Yahoo. United we stand, divided we fall - why guess about things you don't know about when you can just sign up and join your contest brothers? It's better to light a candle than stumble in the dark.

I had actually uploaded it on the 23rd, I thought it went through but for some reason it didn't. So the next day I tried again and wound up deleting the other. Youtube won't let you have duplicate videos so I deleted the first. Aces, thanks for your help, I appreciate it. To me it's a non-issue, these things happen and it's no big deal.
The submission date of the videos are contained in the entry - if you paid proper attention, you'd note that the dates displayed are earlier than the actual posted date - the difference in time between than and now is the time it took the moderator to post the file.

Pizza, you need to relax. How do you know when these videos were submitted? Once a response was made, someone has to approve it before it shows up on RiffKing, and this competition is worldwide. So according to your logic, approvals have to made right away, which means someone has to sit at the computer 24/7 so responses from around the world can get approved right away, and they better not be one minute late. Listen to yourself!

Let's see if I get this right. Biff is now going to be picking the Semi-Final 50 from the 126 entries between 4/23 and 5/7 (2 weeks), followed by YouTubers selecting the Final 10 from among them during 5/7-5/11. Biff will then pick again and announce the Special Prize Winner on May 31st. I don't know what the March references in Phase 3 are all about.
Being a print journalist, I see people make these kinds of mistakes all the time, especially in these days of lazy typing habits developed from too many hours spent on Instant Messenger (or YouTube- doh!). I think this is a case of copying and pasting without double-checking to make sure that doing so doesn't produce errors in the resulting content (like incorrect dates!).
I'm guessing Sir J's recent post was written back before the contest was extended and he didn't think to proof it. Either that, or we're in for a wayyyyy long contest with more errors to come. (BTW, it shouldn't take more than an afternoon to sort half the entries - you can watch 'em all in two hours, and there's a lot more chaff than wheat IMHO)
Of 151 entries to date (4/21), 23% have pulled out with 116 active entries remaining. 37% of these (43) are entries that came in after 2/1, when the contest was extended.

I was miffed by that too, especially after all the technical crap I went through trying to get my entry on here in time (uploads taking forever and then failing for no good reason, waiting for videos to be approved, etc.). And I'm not looking for sympathy, because I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who experienced this. Also, the contest rules could have been worded more clearly- the way they were, I honestly was not sure how this was even going to work. I just hope it all works out.

Y'know, pretty much everyone who entered this contest late in the game is at a disadvantage for views 'n ratings, so could we please cut down on the sniping? 30% of all total entries have already been recalled, for cryin' out loud. Y'know, pretty much everyone who entered this contest late in the game is at a disadvantage for views 'n ratings, so could we please cut down on the sniping? 30% of all total entries have already been recalled, for cryin' out loud. I have no idea how this contest is going to be judged fairly, but one thing's for certain - cheerleading squads and posses are both in very poor taste. Ultimately this competition is all going to boil down to the band's gut feeling, methinks...

Hey guys I am in no way defending anyone, all i would like to say is, all who posted it was a pleasure to have seen so many different takes on the song and each is unique in its own way. The kool thing about it is we all gave a tour of our brains for the duration of the solo. I find it difficult to see fair judgment passed seeing as there are so many things that come to mind when it comes to voting. (Theory,Technique,Timing,Subdivisions,Melodic establishment,Dynamics) Anyhow its been fun.
