Eric was killed in a test session on a Monday after one of the National event races which is a common thing NHRA allows for all the race teams prior to the next race scheduled. Eric left the startingline when the car went into a violent shake which sent the car crashing into one of the retaining walls Eric died a few days later of massive swelling to the brain. Force Racing thereafter developed a safety padding within the roll cage which now protects the drivers head when such a tragedy happens!

People who do this sport, do it for their love of it, all drivers and riders know the risks, and choose to continue. Drag racing yes has taken lives and tradgeys will continue to happen but ever rider and driver died doing the one thing they loved.

i was there when he won his thrid win. im the same...every time i go to BIR and i walk in the gate on sunday moring,go to the pits and see the Force cars, and when i look at that quarter mile and i always think..eric is here watching this race and that he is here is some where in the stands and watching this race!!

When I first heard of Eric's death it brought back so clearly the day Blaine Johnson was killed. Needless to say I was totally shocked when I heard Eric had past away. This is a very nice tribute. As a fan, I got to meet Eric once and watch him on TV. As sad as I feel and as much as I miss him, I know it's nothing compared, to what his family friends, and teammates have been thorugh in the last three months. My prayers continue for them.
