De Stefano's voice may not be entirely suited to the role of Don Alvaro, but he portrays the interior landscape of his character with insight and sensitive expression! Tebaldi perceives every nuance of her Leonora and lives it to the fullest reality before our astonished ears. Both protagonists are caught in a web of circumstance that touches the humanity in all of us! Thank You!

2:20 and following a bit do demonstrate why a more spinto voice will handle this role with more ease, but Di Stefano is still impressive in this duet and of course Tebaldi has the vocal power and beauty to create a legendary Leonora.
