Thanks for this, very interesting and I see myself in your description. I'm innately an introvert BUT I do display extroversion where necessary. This is a learned behaviour, it doesn't come naturally and I do find it exhausting after a while and need to go to ground and feed my soul till I feel like getting out and being social again. We are original thinkers though and like to think outside the square.

you are so right about me at least , i am not sure about what my actual thought process is however i can say that its funny and also scary when i am in the midst of that which may cause self reliance as i like to call it. sorry long sentance. is there some thing to do with aspergers syndrome or maybe something else? I am experiencing these things all thetime. there are people who want to fight with me and there are people who want to hang out. but since i am just another human i walk alone! ha!

I can walk up to virtual strangers at times and strike up a long involved conversation if there is something of common interest. At other times I have nothing to say. Introverts can be very engaging this way, which may surprise may people who think an introvert is, by nature, shy and withdrawn. ... just another stereotype about introverts...

Part I. Thanks for this. I'm an introvert. Have been for most my life. But even more so today. I'm at a conference in a Disney World resort and I'm sitting in my hotel room by myself and have been for the last 3 nights. I went to a conference reception where there were free drinks, food and music. I stayed about 15mins. I'm 52yo. The music was way too loud for me. I felt competely out of place and so uncomfortable.

One misconception here, is that introversion & extraversion are personality traits and that people can easily change something so basic to their nature from one situation to the next. Introversion is a basic temperment. It is only indirectly associated with shyness (which is a personality trait). People do NOT ACT introverted or extraverted; they ARE introverted or extraverted.
