It was after the whistle, but Sedin did look like he was comming in a little fast so maybe he wanted payback for something earlier, or maybe he was trying to spark momentum for his team. Marchand sees him comming and goes for the hip check. I think if Sedin wasn't going to hit Marchand then he could've easily avoided the hip check, but he kept going, so I think Sedin intended to do it. My two cents.
