  • My grandmother taught me a tap dance to this song. I love it!

  • This 45 taught me to listen to B-sides- love it!

  • I shure wish I could remember the name of the cartridge on the tone arm.

  • Hey, That's Almost good!

  • I played this 45 like CRAZY in ~ 1972...THANKS SO MUCH FOR POSTING!!!

  • my childhood memorie!!!

  • @jbchiron

  • love it bossa nova!

  • I played this song on a 45 RPM record in 1961 when I was 1 1/2 years old. My name is Fred Tenzer, I was born in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, USA, I live in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, USA, and my email address is rocket88_doowop@yahoo.com

  • Strange that they put this on the B side of "The Christmas Song". It's been a Christmas song in our family for 40+ years.

  • Whoa! Baby-boomer nostalgia! I, too, freaked out to this song when I was about 3 or 4; loved it WAY more than "The Christmas Song" and played it to death. I wonder what twisted, subversive record exec approved putting this dark, sexy tune on the back of a holiday kids' record? We used to turn out all the lights and jump off the sofa to this one - wild, crazy kid-dancing! (Think I'll do that again tonight ...)

  • COOL I REMEMBER THIS IN KINDERGARDEN AND SUCH!!!

  • Thank you for posting this!! My mom bought this 45 for me nearly 50 years ago for the "A" side (Chipmunks) but I wound up playing this "B" side to death!! There is another classic of David Seville's that is also a "B" side of a Chipmunk record. It is called "Mediocre". I played it to death also! Do you possibly have "Mediocre" and could you post it also???? My records are long gone. Thanks in advance!!!

  • @johnwoa

    i have those records

  • OMG OMG OMG!!! THANK you sooo much for posting this!!!!!

When I was a little girl I "stumbled upon" my dads old box of 45's and totally found this at random. I kinda knew who David Seville was because I watched the chipmunks in the early 80's and heard the popular Chipmunks songs of the 60's?-70s? but when I played this song I was so in love with it. I even learned how to play the whole thing on the piano when I was 10 *giggle*

    *HEY!!.. Thats *almost* GOOD!!*

  • Wow! So cool that I found this! I LOVED this when I was about 5-6 years old! I tried to find it on the web a couple years ago to no avail. Thought I would never hear it again! My kids were watching the movie, thought I'd try to find it. BINGO!

  • Not sure I heard this back then, but it's a good example of all the "B" sides that were better than that designation intimated. (BTW, was "B" short for "backed with"?)

  • Very cool. I had this. Thanks!

  • this was my favorite when I was a kid way back in the 60s

  • This was a favorite found when i was a kid, still love the groove. Look up the story of who wrote and did it, you may be surprised.

  • Loved this song as a kid.

  • Seville/Bagdasarian was also Alfi and Harry on the record from the Alfred Hitchcock movie "The Trouble With Harry"

  • It's amazing how kids our age enjoyed this musical piece and then we remember it decades later! Also had a kick playing this at 78rpm

  • Comment removed

  • Loved his flip-sides! Got them on 78 RPM records!

  • Prove it!

  • Check item number 290321280611 on eBay right now. That's one of several David Seville & The Chipmunks 78s released in Canada. Our country stopped making 78s a bit later than the USA.

  • I have on Canadian 78 RPM by David Seville:

    Armen's Theme

    Witch Doctor

    plus the Chipmunks:

    The Chipmunk Song

    Alvin's Harmonica

    Ragtime Cowboy Joe.

They're in storage right now so I can't make a video, sorry.

  • This is such an amazing and overlooked track. I played this side the most when I was a kid and still do. Possibly his best, and there have been many.

  • Delighted to come across this. Thank you for posting the first 45 I bought and played nonstop.

  • I also owe you a million thanks. I too played this as a kid a million times and thought I'd never hear it again. I hunted for the single for years as an adult and just on a hunch searched it here on YT! Surprise. Found it again after all this time. BTW, is that Dave Seville on the piano?

  • I sure do thank you for posting this! I had this 45 when I was a kid & played it til it was inaudible except for scratches! I couldn't believe I found it! I've been playing it over & over here just like I did when I was a kid! God Bless.

  • Ha Ha!! I remember when we were little we were doing an impromptu lip sync concert (meaning no one knew what the DJ was going to play for us to lip sync), and my sister being a smart ass pretended to do a "strip tease" and got so embarrased when he said "That's almost good!!".

  • Composed/performed by pianist Mark McIntyre. Not an Armenian tune! Ross Bagdasarian, who does the voice over, walked past McIntyre's office at Liberty Records and, hearing the initial riff said, "Mark, that's almost good." Probably intended as one of the "Alfie & Harry" series, but B side needed for Chipmunk Song, for which McIntyre was also leader/arranger. I have a binaural unreleased instrumental of another McIntyre song with the dummy title "Almost Nearly". Inside joke, of course.

  • My 12 y/o was just humming the Christmas song at dinner tonight and I was telling my wife about this B-side. We had the 45 when I was a kid and we'd dance all around the living room when it played. Great memory, thanks!

  • Great ancient Armenian-American song I heard when I was little. To the one who wants to play piano, you can never be too old to start jamming out! This song sounds like a B flat minor song. Go fot it! Play it!

  • I own the 45!!!!!

  • His flip sides to the chipmunck records were great

  • thanks so much for recording this. ive been trying to find this myself as well. my mom has the 45 somewhere in the house with her other records.. too bad theres not a place to download this.. :(

  • Thanks for putting this up! I have been searching for this for years! I still have the original single, but it's way too scratched to get a good recording and I have no turn table.

  • Can I get you to send me an MP3 copy of this? If you can, how do I get in touch with you?

  • you can go to downloadyoutubevideos (dot) com and download the flv, then convert it to wav or mp3 and edit it to size. That's what I did anyway.

  • Hey That's almost good!!

  • Classic favorite song from my childhood! Love it and LOVE watching the record play! Makes me want to learn to play the piano just so I can learn this song! heh heh! Thanks for the fun memories.

  • I've been looking all over for this! Thank you!
