  • The only thing I would change: add teeth

  • Great puppet. Yeah, animation could have been better, but this is a difficult craft just to get to this point.

Nice of you to show us your work!

  • Awesome stuff. Very Harryhausen-esque. Compared to current graphics technologies it looks archaic, but stop motion has a sort of timelessness about it. This is very well done, particularly if you did it by yourself.

  • That's one of the best designs I've ever seen. Animating on film must be so hard as you can't just go back and delete a frame if there's a mistake. You've done a great job. I take my hat off.

  • Loved the model. Stop motion is really atmospheric. Did you build the T Rex yourself. If so how?

  • Very cool model, has some character to it, that makes it more than just being a monster.

  • awesome stop-motion work keep it up! im tired of c.g. all the damn time!

  • The stop-motion is a bit jerky, but the puppet is first rate.

  • @kezadrone

Thanks for the compliment on the puppet. Yes the stop motion is a bit jerky, made a little more so by you tube, but it is a long process to learn, and of coarse there were no frame grabbers when I shot this. Eventually I hope to get it.

  • Great looking Stop-Motion model!!!

  • it looks like one of those old movies you know i like it

  • The model looks realy realistic. Very good!

  • pause at 4 seconds.whats up with the head?

  • he took the frame and forgot to get out of the way.

  • Great animation and such a realistic model. reminds me of harryhausen

  • Impressive. I can imagine all that work you put here. Even the bad quality make it look so neat~!! The camera views, overall is so attractive. I'd like to see a plot for it, for sure. ~Dan Metalmadcat

  • Great job!

  • nice man lots of articulation did you buy or make the dinasour

  • Hi anim8r101,

A friend of mine made the armature, and I made the outside with the help of another friend.

    Thanks for watching.

  • Hey mariomovieman96,

No you don't have to be an expert. I started when i was very young, like yourself. I just worked very hard at it, and did a lot of experimenting.

I saw your animation, nice stuff.

Thanks for watching, and keep up the good work,

    Tim

  • Great job. Just slow him down a bit and you got it made. The puppet is really cool and so were the details on it. Nice Job!

  • Thanks Primevals33,

I did shoot this footage in 1986 or so, but I am still working on slowing and smoothing out the animation. I guess it will be a life long thing with me, something that you get better but never master,

Also if you are the same guy who sold me the Jim D. photo on ebay, thanks, it's a great pic.

    Thanks again for viewing,

    Tim

  • for stop motion rthats RLY good!

  • Thanks theguywithunderwear,

  • Hey FMAuploder8,

    Thanks for watching,

    Tim

  • how did u do this??? this is cool!!!

  • Hey godzillafreak11,

I just did it the way it has been done since 1916. Using good old stop motion animation.

Thanks for the comments and thanks for watching,

    Tim

  • thanx.

  • I'm really serious, tims44, get in touch w/ me! This is sooooo cool!

  • I want this in my movie!

  • Going animotronicy!thats awesome!keep it up!^_^

  • ha! Corny yet Funny

  • Wow, reminds me of those Ray Harryhausen movies. But IMHO this version of T Rex is more of a monster than an animal. Still, I appreciate the hard work u did on this. It's great.

  • Very Good Looks More like a Metriacanthosaurus though with the tall Spines down its back.

  • You must of took alot of pictures :-)

  • awesome job!

  • Really cool, I would love to be able to make models like that! You have a great talent there!.

P.S.Was this shot back when scientists thought T-rex stood upright? Just wonder'n. X|

  • Great job!

  • Very Harryhausen-esque. I love it. You mentioned Ken Walker. I used to read about him in Cinemagic magazine. I love your animation and the model is excellent. Glad to see people out there still doing O'Brien/Harryhausen type animation. Can't wait to see what else you come up with.

  • is there a place where i can buy these stop motion models for my films?

  • very nice modle and animation! =)

  • I like it!

  • I like this video very much. The model especially is very good, I would love to make models like this. Were there holes in the feet to secure it to the table?

  • Very cool, I love the model.

  • Hi Krafty,

    Thanks again for the compliments.

I have continued in stop motion, and have worked on many comercials in the model shop.

You can see more of my films on my channel.

I am building a new T Rex at the moment but should be done in a few weeks, so let me know what you might want and I will see what I can do for you.

    Thanks again,

    Tim

  • OMG!!! GOROSAURUS IS ATTACKING THE CITY!!! AHHH!!!! Did you buy the model, or did you make it?And if you made it, could you put a tutorial on how you made it?

  • Hey tims44, thanks for replying. Have you continued to pursue stopmotion? Do you have any more examples of your work. Also do you and your friends ever do commission work in terms of building models. Your T-Rex tests kick butt!

  • Hey that's a nice looking model. How about some details about who made it etc...

  • Hi Krafty,

The armature was built by Ken Walker. Jim Randall made the molds and foamed the puppet with my assist. I sculpted the puppet and painted and animated it. The cool painting in the backround was painted by Jim Randall as well.

All this work, including the animation was done in 1986. It was shot on super 8 film.

    Thanks for the comments.
