  • looks sooo pretty and yummy!

  • Many years ago an aunt of mine used to make a Banana Split cake that tasted just like an ice cream banana split! Do you have any sort of recipe for something like that? If i recall it was a refrigerator type cake with pineapple strawberries and chocolate with whipped topping and nuts. Love your channel and was just back home in Richmond last week. The whole time there I was hoping to run into you LOL!

  • @beautyandbrains162 Thanks for your sweet comment! I do have the recipe for Bana Split Cake; I just haven't gotten around to making it. I will put it on my (long) list of "to do" recipes. I wish we had met while you were in Richmond; that would have been a treat for me!

  • Your cake looks delicious; going to make this cake for my husbands birthday.

  • Its a nice finish but that whipped topping doesn't have much of a taste. Keep going strong though I like listening to you instruct =)

  • @Kinvishi You may replace the whipped topping with a mixture of cream cheese frosting and whipped cream--to your taste. It will be tasty and sturdy. I was just trying to keep it simple.

    --Betty :)

    --Betty :)

  • Can you make it without the lemon juice or is that important? Love it by the way:-)

  • @cakesbyjen The lemon juice is not that important in this particular cake. You may leave it out, and it will still be great!

    --Betty :)

  • I made this for my mom for Mother's Day and she was delighted! She thought it was really beautiful and yummy. I stirred some red food coloring into the whipped topping to make it pink! :)

  • @OmenBoy4 That's great! Thanks for your lovely feedback! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • Yum!

  • @ChildOfARisenKing Thanks!

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen this really seems like it would be a really sweet ( too sweet) cake....is the recipe you suggest light sweet or heavy sweet?

  • @mtde1mantram I consider it to be lightly sweet, but if you are worried about that, put less sweetener in.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen

I was needing to make this cake, but do some kind of lemon filling inside. Any suggestions?? I made this cake for my gma last yr and she loved it, but she would like some kind of lemon filling inside this time.

  • @angeleyes3250 Instead of making this same cake, you might try this lemon-filled Mother's Day Cake:

    youtube.com/watch?v=YkbxznOynUc

I hope this works for you!

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Thank You for replying so fast!

  • You can not substitute evaporated milk sweetened for condensed milk by just sweetening it. You can however make your own if you have evaporated milk add 1 1/4 cups sugar and heat in a pot till the sugar is disolved. If you do not have evaporated milk here is a from scratch method: Mix 1 cup of instant powdered milk with 1/3 cup hot water, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon melted butter in a blender until smooth. Refrigerate until ready to use.

  • hi betty!

where i live i can't get almond extract. what can a use? or is it okay if i don't use any?

  • This cake is just lovely.

  • Hello, I was wondering to put something else in the cake cream instead of strawberries, it wouldn't be a problem right??? I am thinking to make this cake but the problem is that my sisters are not big fan of strawberries...I was thinking to add M&M's instead =)

  • @Dejin85 Hi! This is a great cake. You do not have to use strawberries. You can choose a different fruit or cookie or candy. M &M's would be very colorful and great-tasting!

    --Betty :)

  • THANKS... cant wait to make it for my son, he loves strawberries :)

  • THANKS...cant wait to make it for my son, he loves strawberries :)

  • Very lovely lady and cake. :)

  • As soon as I get some angel food cake mix, I will give it a try! I think I will dream of eating it tonight! That is what we call "sweet dreams"! Thank you, Betty!!!

  • Where the heck did you get that shirt? It's awesome! Oh, and the cake looks great, too. haha

  • @AmberCantrell86 Thanks for your nice comment! The shirt is actually a bodysuit. I bought in online at newport-news (dot) com.

    --Betty :)

  • betty if we cant find sweet and condinced milk wha t other thing we can use

  • @sa6k0t01 If you can get evaporated milk, and sweeten it, I think it will work. I would use less of it, since it is more liquid than the sweetened condensed milk.

    --Betty :)

  • Just made this cake using your recipie and it was a hit.

  • Betty, all you do is just fantastic!!!!!! God bless you and your family!!!!

  • Is Angel food cake the the only cake you can use?

  • @sexxyat40 No, you can make your own cake from scratch, or use a mix. You can also buy pound cake instead of angel food cake.

    --Betty :)

  • I made this the other day and it was soooo good!! Thank you for posting it! Of course I bought the angel food cake and then made the cream like u did....Im just kinda nervous of making an angel food cake.

  • @angeleyes3250 Thanks for the great feedback!

    --Betty :)

  • @angeleyes3250 No, you can make your own cake from scratch, or use a mix. You can also buy pound cake instead of angel food cake.

    --Betty :)

  • do you have to let the angel food cake cool completely before you freeze it to cut it??

  • No, it doesn't have to be completely cool. I just used a pre-baked cake, but if you are baking your own, then logisitcally, you would cool the cake some, remove it from the cake pan, and then freeze it. If it is still a bit warm, that would not hurt the results.

    --Betty :)

  • so delicious =),, i will make this one for my boyfriend at valentineys day,, thanks u

  • This is a wonderful cake to make for Valentine's Day! Great choice! Thanks for your lovely comment!

  • just did tiramisu yesterday, i will try to make this my all time favourite strawberry cake nxt week!!

    thnx for the tutorial!!!

  • You are very welcome! I hope you enjoy the cake! Thanks for your comment!

    --Betty :)

  • How did you make such pretty designs on the cake w/ the whipped topping?

  • You can use a knife (or something similar) and move quickly in a swirling motion. Don't try a spreading motion--That will just look like you've spread butter on toast. Make large sweeping motions, and you will get the nice designs! Thanks for your question! (I actually demonstrate this in the Banoffee Pie.)

    --Betty :)

  • i was wondering if the whipped topping is a light topping? or is it really sweet ? btw the cake looks delicious :]

  • You can use regular whipped topping or get the kind that is fat free or the kind that is low sugar or the kind that is "lite." Any of them will work fine. The regular spreads the best, but all of them taste pretty much the same--all are sweet, but not overly sweet. I hope this helps!

    --Betty :)

  • Looks delicious. Impressive presentation of the process of making it as well.

  • Thanks for your sweet comment! This has probably been my most popular cake--and it all started with a ready-to-serve angel food cake! It is very easy to make it look (and taste) delectable! Thanks for viewing and commenting!

    --Betty :)

  • Thanks for your sweet comment! As you can see from the other comments, this cake has been very popular! I don't think you can go wrong by trying it!

    --Betty :)

  • My son and young grandaughter "flipped" over this cake! They had to take the rest home. Thanks Betty :)

  • I'm glad it was a hit! It is very pretty and also tasty! Thanks for the nice feedback!

    --Betty :)

  • I bet this is fantastic! I love strawberries and angel food cake. YUM :)

  • Thanks, Mera! I've been been to your channel a few times, and you are doing a great job! I plan to spend more time there--just have been very busy lately staying caught up with my own chsannel! As you know, it's a lot of work! Anyway, I will see you soon! Thanks for your sweet comments!

    --Betty :)

  • i just made this rit now well ya and the cream tasted SUPER good. the thing i liked it reminded me about the past :) cuz of the lemon that gave it its flavor and the almond a little bite

  • That's wonderful! Thanks for the sweet feedback!

    --Betty :)

  • thank-you :)

  • You are very welcome! Thanks for commenting!

    --Betty :)

  • this looks really yummy, im going to have to try it, how long can you keep it for after you ave made it and would you need to keep it in the fridge ? :)

  • You *must* keep it in the refrigerator (or freezer). It will keep for a week in the refrigerator, and indefinitely in the freezer! Thanks for your comment!

    --Betty :)

  • how much time did u freeze it for??? im super sorry for this questions but this looks wonderful and tasty and im a big fan of strawberries so i want to make this really good :) thank you so so so much for this recipe

  • It doesn't *need* to be frozen. Once you get it assembled, just refrigerate it for about 8 hours or overnight. Then frost it with whipped topping and store in either the refrigerator or freezer. Thanks for your question!

    --Betty :)

  • can i use frozen strawberrys??? o and how many packages did u need to make 2 cups???

  • I bought a quart. I had enough to do the cake and decorate it, plus a few strawberries left over. You can use frozen strawberries--just thaw and drain them well, so that they don't water down the filling. The filling needs to set up in the refrigerator. Good luck with your cake--It will be great!

    --Betty :)

  • Hey that's a new shirt..............

  • It's the same one--I just took off the pink-striped top I had over it earlier in the day!

    --Betty :)

  • Amazing cake! The strawberry decoration looks like a strawberry cobra slithered up on the cake. Very nice!

  • Thank you! I wasn't going for a cobra--but I'll take that! Thanks for your nice compliment!

    --Betty :)

  • yummy yum looks really nice bet it tastes nice too i will defo be makin this x

  • That's great! It's really very easy--you just have to wait a while for it to set up--and it really is delicious! Thanks for commenting (and trying!).

    --Betty :)

    have a great day!

  • Hi Ben, Nice to hear from you. This cake is delicious--you can cut down on the fat a lot, and angel food cake isn't very sugary; I will have to say that the sweetened condensed milk contains a lot of sugar--so go easy on that! The cutting was not hard at all to do! Thanks for commenting!

    --Betty :)

  • That is a beautiful cake and looks very tasty, too!

  • We had some of the cake yesterday--It tastes great! Thanks for your nice comment!

    --Betty :)
