The Promise-One of Bruce's best artworks ever! Springsteen is the only boss I'll ever work for. Clarence and Danny are never forgotten by me. Bruce is

By far the best version of this song. Thanks. It sounds way better with a faster tempo. Not as dark and depressing. His fans know how to "mix" his songs better than he does.
He didn't include this on an album because he didn't want to be accused of writing songs about his lawsuit, which this song is clearly about.
Good song, too bad he's a commie whose daughter rides a half million dollar horse. Some working class hero.
Am I guessing you are an american!!!!! a commie? get a life - do you label everyone in your country who has a social conscience, a commie? - and as for the horse comment, bruce is not one of those stars who earn a fortune with minimum effort - his work ethic is huge - as demonstrated at his concerts - he gives maximum value and how he chooses to spend his money is his own business - not yours or mine.
bruce really spends a lot of time for music and nobody can say he isn't a true bruce springsteen. he even would do that for nomoney cause his music is his life tells his life and the history the past and the future of american life, and the life of every worker on the world.
@tbone76a its really funny because ur probably one of those people who hate people in the rap and pop genre who sing and write lyrics about how much money they have and how they spend all their money on useless crap. bruce gives tons back 2 the community, what do u give back? how he spends his money on himself and his daughter is up 2 him. id love 2 see someone review how you've spent ur money over your life. im sure bruce has donated ten times higher percentage of his $ than u have
The way I see it, it's the story of what happens after he took Mary out on their ride, how he was left with nothing but the dream he went chasing after. A pessimistic spin to the happy hopeful original song, kinda crushes the happiness that I get from listening to Thunder Road now : \ but still amazing and wonderful.
Well, which is it? When you refer to his best song ever you have to pick one. Otherwise you have to say "one of his best songs ever." You can't have it both ways. Can you? By the way... his best song ever is Incident on 57th Street. But this one is very good.
Man this is so good. I can't believe it was kept off Darkness. There's so many good songs he wrote back then that failed to make the album. He's a legend!!

You can find it on the Darkness Outtakes, you can download it off a springsteen-torrent site called Jungleland.

cause he was before his career even a worker from a working family but he realized his dreams but he still has a big heart for the workers and all.
lazlowithguitar 2 years ago
Commie? Explain, or do your typing fingers work faster than your brain?
And you called him the working class hero - Bruce has never called himself that. Perhaps he understands the futility of class politics.

Is it available on a bootleg CD or anything?
