The main reason The Mars Volta had to find Pridgen in the first place was because Jon Theodore set the bar so very high with his great playing and great sound. If Theodore hadn't been so f**kin good in the volta, they would not have had to of found a player like Pridgen to fill his shoes.

I can agree the kit sounds garbage. Largely due to the camera placed right next to it, and due to the fact it is made for photos, not video.
I tended to practice without my shirt during the period (1.5 years ago) I filled this, and I happen to be in good shape so I'm not that ashamed. But if I really was looking to be a heart throb, posting a drum video on YouTube for 85% male audience to see would hardly make sense.

First off, go fuck yourself.
Secondly, this video is nearly a year and a half old. And my chops can't be that bad given the fact that I teach drums, get paid to play/record, and have played in different countries.
I doubt you can say the same.
Thirdly, look up old TMV recordings with Jon Theodore.
This video is hardly the best version I've ever played, nor is it the best example of my playing.

the time that has to go into each mars volta song is insane.
every aspect of every song is perfectly done. the guitar, vocals, and drums are all insanely difficult and impressive.

It amazes me how much goes into each instrument with the Mars Volta. I'd love to get each individual instrument on their own tracks. Amazing drumming by the way, I don't know much about it but this is definitely sick.

That was really good, but you gotta clean that snare up. That thing sounds like shit in a pan. Tuning the toms up wouldn't hurt either, it sounds as if they're way too loose. Awesome drumming, just tune those up.

Awesome video.. What kind of rudiments are you using in the main beat (22 seconds in) there's lots of work with the left hand on the snare :P

Very nice. You lose a little bit in the video quality, specifically your bass drum I can't pick out at all most of the time, although that might be my speakers.

Yeah that's the one thing I miss about Jon, I feel like Pridgen doesn't mix up his dynamics enough. Well, that and the salsa beats. No hate for Pridgen though.

but "roulette dares" is an old song and pridgen was not in the band at the time,ther was the amazing jon theodore(that was as explosive as pridgen)

I'm not exactly sure what ones he used, but it was either K top over A New Beat bottom or A Quick Beat top over A New Beat top.
