As a keyboard/synth player that started playing in the early 80's mod where getting the most out of some old and antiquated gear. Top marks for the use of the organ possibly one of the early Korg organs. It also shows it's the musical content that really matters. Amazing sound and song.
thanks for answer.. yes i agree in that comment, the 80's was a special thing on it's sounds, however, the sounds have been out 'again' to learn about them..the 80's.. now it's 2010, maybe some will figure like the songs from that arcade.. :)
I remember listening to this in 1981 over and over and over. Their music took over my whole life, but I have to be honest it did feed a mood of depression. We can all look back and say how wonderful they were blah blah blah. But at the time life didnt seem like it. I had no idea it was about Ian Curtis, but it sure fits. I dont think anyone'd get away with making depressing music like this these days.
@obakegadeso Of course oba, Ian Curtis left this world perhaps 4 things we never understand and share...This song makes me go to other atmospheres....woooo!!!
@dentom44 Sure man, I am agree with ur opinion...People enjoys always pop music, chosen from CEOs in charge under dark offices, who pretend us to listen what they want..I mean products like Madonna, Jacko, Wham, etc...I prefer electronic sounds like this...
This is one of OMD's top three. On any given day this would give Sealand a run for its money. I've not heard raw feeling like this in any OMD song other than Sealand and Statues.
Wow, thanks for posting this! Top song from a seriously great album. This was the last song on side 1 and Stanlow was the last song on side 2 of Organisation (something that's lost a bit with cd's etc.). And in both cases you really felt like you'd been given something to think about and be haunted by.
Wasn't this the song that was written after Ian Curtis had passed? An absolutely beautiful song that sounds just wonderful live. What a concert that must have been!
They show them all what synthi pop is all about.....

I saw OMD in 1985 in Los Angeles, and am going to see them March 2,6 2011 in Oakland. Still my all time favorite band.

I saw OMD yesterday and guess what? They played this rare song! It was as good as this version. It was definitely the highlight of the gig.

Just give up the Depeche Mode. They suck. You have tainted the message board once again!

sad memories for me every time I listen to this - the first track I heard, having just split from my fiancee.
I'm biased, maybe, but this has to be one of the most emotionally-charged tracks of the 80's.
thanks to the poster!
