Curious why tune down 1/2 step rather than just playing the same chords 1/2 step down? Great old song to know and learn and fantastic instruction by the way Marty.
@deadmanprodincIt's not that simple, most of the times songs should be played using the original frets no matter what tuning you are using, that is because the open chords, such as the A one here won't sound really powerful and you will find trouble trying to reach certain positions that require an open string, with solos, etcAnother reason is,in this particular song,as Feedbackboy stated in comment above,if you actually want to play the Echord using the 6thstring you won't be able to
I just heard this song and thought "I've gotta get on youtube and find a way to beg Marty to put out a lesson on this". Good thing I checked first - it's the first bloody search result.
hey marty, thanks for tutorial, much appreciated! Is there any chance you could upload some more thin lizzy guitar lessons? THUMS UP if you would like to see some more thin lizzy tutorials!
southern rock are you fucking kidding me? gotta think back in the 70's this was rock! i got nothing against southern rock i like southern rock but c'mon man!
@sasukeuchiha9724 yea it definitely is I just learned it on an acoustic about five minutes ago from this video but I reccomend using an older guitar if you have one cause they have a different sound than the newer acoustics for example I have about a 60 year old harmony, it's a family heirloom and it sounds great for this song but I tried it on a more recently made Lyon acoustic and it didn't have the 60s/70s/80s classic rock feel to it
bit confusing on the palm muting riff not sure if you were getting muddled up but yh i just found confusing i dont u play on an e thret at all to my understanding but i think i got what u meant
Hey Marty, it's tuned 1/2 step down, so all the chords you are saying are 1/2 step too high. i know that it easy that way, but its the wrong chords. :)
Marty your videos are awesome. You always have that note than seems to elude me. This time it was the D7 minor. It seemed no matter what I tried I was one octave off. Thanks.
Hey Marty, do you think you could do a quick lesson on how to tuen 1/2 step down? I don't know how to tell how much is too much (using a regular tuner). I would also expect I'm not the only person who doesn't know.
I've always loved this song and loved it LOUD. So as soon as I learned it from you, I cranked the speaker and got a first. The lovely young couple next door came over and asked their 40-something neighbor to turn it down!! haha.

@sasukeuchiha9724 Listen, not trying to sound like a jerk or anything, but EVERYTHING that can be played on ELECTRIC guitar can be played on ACOUSTIC guitar. THEY'RE THE SAME FUCKING INSTRUMENT!!!! You come off as a total fucking noob by asking that. Sorry to seem like an asshole, but I can't fucking stand that question.
Wow thanks for the great lesson Marty please keep them up. I Learned this in 30 minutes and I am playing like a pro. Because of you I keep on playing guitar everyday so that I hopefully become as good as you thanks again :)
marty :( you teach us one thing and play enough, in the second part of the video on both the melodies, you tell us it's twice on the 7th A but you end up playing it only once.. same with the higher pitched one, say one thing but play it differently.. =[
wow, i put this in 720p and it puased to buffer, in the guitars reflection i could see children, then a little after 1:00 minute before 1:30 marty's voice clearly raises like he is talking to someone all within 2:00 can someone confirm : )

the best is to buy an electronic tuner , then set it down one step flat it has a "b" symbol on the tuner
so you have Eb Ab Db Gb Bb eb
