Bannon, though a fuck-up sometimes, sometimes did smart stuff but got yelled at for it anyway.

I remember in the second mission Sawyer screams at him for setting up defenses on the Soviet side of the river. When Bannon goes "But sir, it was Parker who..." Sawyer suddenly flash-decides that it was a good idea because Parker did it. Lol, Bannon never caught a break.

Also, Sawyer was kind of retarded sometimes. He would post Bannon's armor to defense, when the job is better handled by Infantry.
