they are all front wheel drive, except for the new '09 models. they can come in either FWD or AWD (SH-AWD)?? can't remember from the top of my head. I have an '01 CL-S. I really wanted the TL-S, but cost too much.

I spent all day driving BMW's including the 328i, 528i and wound up buying an 07 TL Type S. The 328 steering was way too stiff and the car was crammed and very noisey. The 528i was awesome all around but my wife felt like the seats were uncomfortable. The TL Type S was the most powerful and best blend of luxury and sport. Best of all I picked one up with 10k miles for $26.5k! That's alot of car for the money IMO.

I actually own a TL type S. The acceleration compares well to a BMW 335. The handling and braking is the BMWs equal. The front drive is a negative but its not a deal breaker because the car is well balanced and designed to perform. Plus the seats are actually comfortable. The interior is great, the nav system is easy to use and accurate.

I don't know of too many fast and the furious types who can lay down $38,000 for a car.

Yes, I have driven both cars and can say they are both amazing. The front wheel drive of the Acura is really its only let down. However I didnt go with either vehicle, I found a car that had the steering, handling of the BMW with the cool features and well designed and attractive interior of the Acura........I got a 2008 Cadillac CTS DI. For anybody looking into this segment of cars, I would encourage you to at least take a look at the new Cadillac, you might be very surprised.

I test drove a 03 Bmw 330i, it was very nice. I rather liked it, it was my second pic after the TL. I would say, the handling is equal in both cars. The power is greater with the TL, but when you add up the labor costs for a german car and the less MPG you get, the TL is the smarter choice for a american driver, living in america.

If the Tl was RWD it would be the best luxury car. The reasont eh TL gets 286hp is apparently teh exhaust is kinda restricted. I mean Honda can get up to 120hp per liter so I am sure teh Tl coudl easily be upgraded

Im waiting for the 08 TL's to come out before i buy one. I think the TLs are better than G35s. The TL is compared to a BMW 6 series, and its one of the most technological cars in the market with HD-Audio 6 (or 8 im not sure) speaker system and bluetooth technology so you can use your phone without touching it.

Oh by the way, the Honda Accord will be all new for 2008 and thus the Acura TL, which is basically a more luxurious and sportier Accord, will be redesigned either for 2008 model year or more likely 2009. If you're buying a 2007 TL-S keep in mind soon enough an all new TL will be out and will probably have 300 or more hp standard. : )

I'm very interested in the active noise cancellation. They first used it in the 05 Acura RL - but reports were that they used the sound inversion to allow the use of less sound deadeners - making the RL lighter than it would have been. Does the TL have the same sound deadening setup as before + the new sound inversion? If so it'd be interesting to use that as a way to see how much good the new technology really does.
