  • goosebumps so big i thought i caught chicken pox

  • One day we will all look at one another and realize we are all brothers and sisters in this world, that hurting one another hurts us all, and that our Mother Earth can provide us with everything we all need if we just learn to share. No more wars, no more hunger, no more hatred...we will put down our childish things and work together to explore the universe that exists both within us and beyond.

And, over all of it, we will hear this song.

MUCH LOVE TO ALL OF YOU, ALL OVER THE WORLD, FROM USA

  • Translation...

From ancient times Wise people call out to us Children - oh children Hear our words You are a great family, all Look up to the sky You are the brightest star Father, father, raise a cup Drink fresh water Break new bread Be generous Laugh loud - it is good.

    amen

  • Tears in my eyes, I´m not exaggerating. This is beautiful.

  • Close to earth, close to family, close to God. Beautiful.

  • There are a few "vocal " groups today who could do with a lesson in how to harmonise from Ladysmith Black Mombazo. They are not only showing us their culture but their faith and talent as well. Inspiring!! Thank you :)

  • estas são as minhas as nossas origens principalmente para quem é ou pertence a origem rei Huambo espero que saiba apreciar é o máximo!

  • I first fell in love with LBM when I heard them sing "The Moon is Walking" on Michael Jackson's Moonwalker.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • I remember these guys from Jeff Wayne's Musical version of Spartacus. They played the voice of Spartacus' army. A good choice, if you ask me; these guys are great!

  • Mark, I'm just going through some of your older videos, and I'm really enjoying your music, etc! Wow, what a fantastic listening experience here. Thanks for introducing me to this choral group. :)

  • @EeeKOMPOMBOOM It´s Zulu, brotha. The Shabalala clan is very reputable in Zulu culture.

  • @EeeKOMPOMBOOM This is Zulu. They are from Mzanzi(South Africa)

  • beautifull music .. it makes you very happy

  • Does anyone know the background of this song and what it means?

  • From ancient times Wise people call out to us Children - oh children Hear our words You are a great family, all Look up to the sky You are the brightest star Father, father, raise a cup Drink fresh water Break new bread Be generous Laugh loud - it is good.

  • Some of the lyrics are almost impossible to translate into English. Joseph Shabalala, the writer and composer, explained that the meaning of some words depends on many variables such as who you are addressing, the context in which you are speaking and even the time of day! here is the closest one can get

    Inkanyezi Nezazi (Wise Man)

  • Love the harmonising of the Zulu singers........Zulu rules...a dynamic warrior language....saw 300 Zulu's near Pretoria singing and doing their Zulu dances when I was younger. Awesome, if not fear inspiring! Have great respect for this tribe. The Red Coats faced a noble enemy.

  • Melody is indeed not in the pocket!

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE, I heard a song from LSBM for the first time on the Heinz Beans ad years ago, and everyone in the sitting room stopped to listen to the music- it commands attention IMMEDIATELY! The next week my Mam bought their CD for me. I still have it, play it all the time while Im ironing!

  • I should listen to this every morning... I bet the rest of my days would be great.

  • This song reminds me a little bit of Russian Orthodox church choirs.

  • .....under African sky's

  • This music is so beautiful. It literally brings tears to my eyes every time, and creates this overwhelming feeling of love and prosperity and brotherhood. I can't wait to go to Africa some day and meet native tribesmen and enjoy and learn their cultures. Sometimes I feel being an American I'm so culturally-deprived, and I crave to learn and be a part of all of these beautiful and possibly even ancient cultures and rituals. This video reminds me of my dad who was from South Africa and played it.

  • I love this song, use to listen to it when I was young all the way from Ladysmith to Durban...

  • This is Africa...and I'm from Laydsmith but now living in London for 6 years and miss Africa everyday!

  • wasnt this song used in a heinz ketchup ad?

  • @ahenmaxtae YES

  • this song reminds me of walking downstairs early in the morning, the smell of bacon in the ktichen, and this playing early in the morning. My grandad sat at the table with ketchup on his chin, nad sat nodding his head!

Such good memories! I love this group!

  • i cried when i heard this

  • Geez, this goes right through you into your soul. Amazing.

  • I'm Maasai

  • makes me feel homesick!

  • Kwa Zulu

  • great

  • This is so beautiful. This just proves that you do not need instruments and auto-tune to make 'music'. Their voice and humble harmonies are the instruments. I love this.

  • I'm not South African but for some reason, I's so drawn to their music Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Soweto Gospel Choir, Brenda Fassie (RIP).

  • great:)

  • beautyful

  • The best of the best

  • Beautiful, it brings a wonderful feeling of peace to my soul!!

  • All those poor animals slaughtered for decorative shields and ceremonial clothing. I'm calling PETA right now! LOL

Shame the girl I asked to come with me didn't bother coming as I went out with a fine Kenyan girl who sat two rows behind me after, and although we broke up about 5 months after meeting.....I loved that night very much indeed

  • Wow.. all for a reason.. but I would never miss this concert for anything,

    glad u enjoyed the night..

  • muzica adevarata

  • in reply to

    FreeBlurr

they are singing about following the star of the wiseman, and the journey it makes through the heavens

  • BEST AFRICAN MUSIC

  • Well, about the click sound - I do think it is very charming! de gustibus non disputandum est

  • Celtic singing has a long history. :)

  • that click letter ruins it

  • i dont know how to explain it, but this kind of music sounds more human than any other kind of music. it represents a people so justly that it represents all peoples

  • I love this :)

    Wish I knew what they're saying though..lol.

  • I prefer it without reverb and without thar compressed-microphone sound. Just a stereo microphone placed further away so that have to sing louder. The 'whispering' style is a modern influence from using mics.

  • the roots of every single men ... beautiful

  • Kind of, but that would be Ethiopia, to be accurate.

  • love it even though i dont understand it :L

  • i think you do

  • why do you think i do ? :L

  • I think he just means you feel the emotion of the music thus you understand it =]

  • Ohh :L

    typical 13 year olddd :)

  • @DemiiP87 you have got to love the melody even if you don't understand.

  • @DemiiP87 Oh, but you do understand it. You do...

  • @MsDenouement thank you :) but how?

  • @DemiiP87 Peace is universal, that's how. :)

  • @MsDenouement how very true :D

  • someone know what the prayer at the end of most of their songs mean?

  • Beautiful!

  • I was wondering to myself if European madrigals came from this music.

    Mark...

  • There is an innocence in this music that is lost in the western world.. My world is fast moving but this gives me peace for a while.

  • @ketgirl34 I understand your point. I would suggest there is a sophistication in this music that is lost in the western world. It brings peace to me also.

    Mark...

  • Which tribe is this? 10x in advance :)

  • Joseph Shabalala formed Ladysmith Black Mambazo because of a series of dreams he had in 1964, in which he heard certain isicathamiya harmonies, isicathamiya being the traditional music of the Zulu people.

  • Zulu - of course!!!!!

  • Of course ;-)
