  • lol really gotta stay on that throttle to keep up with a pilot! poofkaboom (tpreed from pilotodyssey here)

  • @xmxcubedxmx

lol... yeah Steve's Pilot was quite a bit faster than my Odyssey. Poofkaboom is right... I had to pulled about 4 miles out of the canyon by a Razor after I melted the piston trying to keep up with his Pilot. DOH!!!! I hate it when that happens. lol... Hoser has my top end now so hopefully when I get it back, Steve and I can go do it all over again, except for the poofkaboom part of course. lol..

  • cool

  • @Ls3guy

    Thanks

  • @Rarerat whats done to the odyssey

  • @rccarsman87

It was stock except for Boysen reeds. This Ody actually runs pretty strong, but it wont keep up with a good running Pilot on the long steep sand hills.

  • @Rarerat ok thanks i just got one tonight in a trade for a 400ex and i love it. has porting, high comp. piston, liquid cooled and race clutch...runs very strong

  • @rccarsman87

Congrats on your new Ody, you will love it. Having the water cooled head is a huge plus over stock on these things. What clutch does it have, 102 Comet? I just picked a Quick Shift for the Ody I am building for my daughter., If you havent already, go check out PilotOdyssey* com. There is a wealth of knowledge there on these things.

Good luck with your new toy and keep a close eye on jetting.

  • @Rarerat im not entirely sure on that but if thats a popular clutch then yes it probably is. is there any marking on it that would tell me. i do have a few questions as for this is my first odyssey. do these come with electric start and pull start stock? if so is it normal for the starter to slip when the battery gets low? not slip like the gears are grinding but just not engaging.

  • @rccarsman87

Yes electric & pull start was on all 350 Odys. If the battery is low the starter may just click or turn the engine over so slow it wont start. I would make sure you have a good battery before anything else. If the battery is good and it still wont turn over there is a really good chance the starter is full of oil and it will need to be cleaned / rebuilt. Do you know if the previous owner did the balancer mod?

  • @Rarerat no i dont but it turns over it starts it perfectly its just when the batt is low

  • @rccarsman87

Gotcha, you may want to but a meter on it to make sure it charging

  • @Rarerat oh and do these have stators stock?

  • @rccarsman87

Yes, it is under the pull start cover & behind the hub & flywheel. If you watch my latest video of the Odyssey Restoration Part 5, you can see it when I was assembling the bottom end.

  • @Rarerat ya i had it charging all night and its good now

  • @Rarerat oh and thanks for all the help greatly appreciated. is there an exhaust gasket in these things? the exhaust is leaking oil. it is right on the engine not the one that is connected to the silencer.

  • @rccarsman87

No problem glad to help. What pipe is on it? The stock pipe has a ring that goes around the outside of the exhaust flange. The pipe slips over the flange and seals on the ring. My Pilot has an aftermarket pipe and it tends to spit out a little oil from the exhaust there as well from time to time.

Good luck & Beware these things are very addicting. lol..

  • @Rarerat i think its stock... it has the stock heat sheild on it if that helps and it is a black color. and yes i have noticed there addicting went on its first ride today. never realy got on it because of golf cart following but it had so much power and so fun...lol

  • @rccarsman87

Yes, sounds like a stock pipe.

  • @Rarerat i have one more question...lol do you happen to know the lowest temp a wiseco piston can run in one of these. it is high comp. and is only running around 150-200 degrease f. i have heard that these need to heat up befor you run them so i am concerned i might be damaging my engine

  • @rccarsman87

I dont know on the temp, my 350's are still air cooled but you need to let it warm up really good before you go ride. The 350 cylinder has what they cal and exhaust bridge and if it hasn't expanded from heat, before you go get on it you can hang up a piston ring. I usually let mine idle 5 or 6 minutes before i will start to ride, and then take it easy for another minute or two. The other thing I cant stress enough is proper jetting, do multiple plug chops until it is right.

  • @Rarerat oh and it only does it when the battery is low as far as i can tell

  • @Rarerat no its not a comet it says powerbloc on the side of it

  • @rccarsman87

Powerbloc is a really good clutch, I run one on my Pilot, they are easy to adjust. Congrats that's almost a 400.00 clutch.

  • looks like a lot of fun man :)

  • @mobsterbillyjoe

Thanks, we were having a blast right up until I blew the engine in my Odyssey. DOH!!!

  • @Rarerat

    Where's the video of that?

  • @orpheusband

I dont have it, the camera battery was already dead by the time it happened.
