This won't work with with update 1.1 because the ladders lost their Collision boxes. In update 12w03a, collision boxes were re installed but that isnt an auto update. That or 12w04a have to be downloaded from the Mojang website. Then they'll work.

@markhelfrich All you have to do if your playing in 1.1 is use trapdoors instead.

nice idea!Better as using thousands pistons and loads of redstone...anyway that kind of elevator is more elegant (with the pistons) but this one is more efficient

I tried this many months ago in SMP. It doesn't work. The carts fall off.

Very nice idea. Helpfull in some cases but a lot of people will just stay cunfused when they see a minecart on the ground :/

@Brodielishious If i'm not wrong then you should be able to just point straight down and tp to the one beneath you (: Give it a try, not sure if they fixed it.

@Brodielishious Doubtful, just make a hole next to this contraption and place water at the bottom.. Then drop.
