I was at this meeting with my mate. I couldn't see fully what was happening but my mate said 'Gundersen looks bad'. I have watched Speedway for over 20 years and this is by far the worst incident I have seen and I have seen a few bad ones. I am pleased Gundersen was ok but what a sad way to end a great career. That's the chance all riders take in Speedway I suppose, but you just never expect it to actually happen. The UK won the meeting but the celebrations were well muted.

Glad Erik is OK after this horrific crash, I have fond memories of Cradley Vs Sheffield in the Gundersen, Moran, Penhall era. God bless you Erik and best of luck in all you try to achieve after this ordeal.

I was there that day, Erik was a super rider, sad his career was cut short, as im sure he would have won another world title, everybody feared the worst, thankfully the staff at Penderfords Hospital did a great job in saving Gunder the wonder, poor Kelly Moran looks totally distraught.
