Hey- Amazing Reel. Any chance you could help me create a short Ident? I'm producing a t.v show for CUTV (Cardiff Uni T.V). It'll be great weekly exposure to a large student community and a great project to support. In a nut shell, it's a review show interviewing people fresh from cinema screenings about their impressions of the latest releases. Please e-mail me if you can help in any way; fraserisaac@hotmail.co.uk
@aphelionravi yeah mate - check out videocopilot . net
and trapcode plugins for after effects - a lot of trapcode shine used with trap code particular, and earth zoom from video coppilot - just some of the tuts used here.
Nice reel with some beautifully constructed animations. I can see that the tutorials have helped you come a long way in your development and your showreel represents months of watching tutorials, learning new skills and trying to produce something that will get you noticed - I am very much in the same boat. But it was nice to see something to give me inspiration.
Thanks for the comment. I appreciate the time you spent typing those letters. However, perhaps you could elaborate? This would help me improve my work and future showreel presentations.
It's not often I receive criticism, it would be nice to have some constructive feedback. I'm sure it wont hurt you to type in a few more words?
Their tutorials are a very important part of my development into the motion graphics industry. This show reel was created after about 5 months in the motion graphics industry. This show reel got me a lot of work, so I thank them for helping me. Stay tuned for a new reel coming 2010.
If you are referring to the videocopilot evolution pack used in this reel, last I checked they are royalty free. Im sure Andrew wouldn't mind if they are used in peoples reels or professional products, that is after all how he makes his money.
Thanks Aaron, however I must say that Evolution was not used in this showreel. The flourish work that you see with the image of the lady was completely custom and uses the stroke effect. There are other pieces that are influenced by tutorials though, such as the trampoline piece, and the earth zoom. Thanks for the comment.
Thanks for your input. I'm sure Andrew Kramer and others in the motion graphics industry do not need to be reminded every time his tutorials influence others works. His tutorials have been very helpful in my motion graphics learning. We're working on phasing anything too similar to his tutorials out of our showreels. But thanks anyway, most appreciated.
Sir, you are very talented. Please hide your secrets so you will forever have an upperhand over your fellow artists. THe artist profession is becoming more and more competitive and I'm sure you know this, so hide your secrets like I do!
Thanks for the tip. I do however think it's good to share your methods with others so we can all expand and learn together. The industry is more competitive because so many people can do basic motion graphics works, however the ones that are successful are the more creative and talented ones. We're currently working hard to phase out any references to possible tutorials we've used as influence in some of these works. This is quite an old showreel. Thanks for the tip!
Thanks for the comment. At the time of this reel I was studying however I'm now working for a small production company called Green Rabbit in Melbourne. Thanks.
As a Yr 12 student looking to do this after leaving school how do i get in to shillington?

@teereb thanks for replying
Actually, I want the tutorial for only where it plays from 0.38-0.40
How we call this effect? I can't find it on video pilot.

Hi there,
The animation was done in After Effects. Design uses a combination of Photoshop, Illustrator and In Design.
Cheers

Hi Smeg,
Thanks a lot for the comment. Yes basically the idea was to a nice showcase to get work quickly, which has paid off.
A new show reel will be coming soon so you'll be able to see how far I've come since this reel a year and a half ago.

Yeah.. Rendering can be a bitch. My computer can only just handle a few things.
Just another thing. The link in the description doesn't seem to work..
