  • @Cavar21 its a good excersise,i do it very often,i add it either on the leg or back rutine,but its not a V shape ex imo,pullups,rows and even shoulder workouts would contribute to V shape,as well as loosing some bellyround fat would too,but cant say the same for this one,at least not at this degree.

  • People are so clever in these kind of threads.. Keeping in mind that we all are build differently, id say follow the basic advises and work towards ur own style in what feels the best for ur body! Its not rocket science this..

  • He does 2 things that will surely wreck your lower back, especially when you start using more weight. The "big chest" thing he thinks is so good to do at the top of the movement is called hyperextension. It puts unneccesary strain on your lower back. 2nd is he exhales as he's lifting the weight. Please dont do this. Taking in a big breath and flexing your abs creates intra-abdominal pressure that makes your torso very rigid. This helps protect the lower back and spine from unnecessary stress.

  • This is not the way to do a barbell deadlift. A deadlift is supposed to be a pull starting with the weight on the ground, or at shin height. This is more of a Romanian deadlift. There are lots of videos on proper deadlift form on youtube, look for videos by Kiknskreem, smittydiesel and EliteFitnessSystems

  • This is exactly how I do mine. Since I only go up to 275, I use no belt but maintain proper form. I used to hate deadlifts but the results are well worth the effort. My back has never been as thick as it is now.l

  • @DINOBRAV69 your back is in danger. I used to play football and squatted without a belt. The end result was a testacle traveling out of my ball sac. Hernia time!!!

  • Would you recommend to do this exercise in the beginning of your back routine or at the end? My point is that it might exhaust the core and reduce the quality of the rest of the routine that day.

  • Yes, but you will need 100 pound to 150 pound dumbbells eventually

  • @ckranez I think you are not bending your knees enough. You have to do a kind of crouching movement, like Darin shows here. For hamstrings, the knees are just slightly bent, and then you lean forward. The pull ups work more for the lats and middle back, while deadlifts are more lower back.

    to deadlift you must squeeze your shoulder blades tight and pull them down, force the bar into your legs during the whole motion (wear pants to avoid cut shins), and keep you lower back flat and chest up. if you do all this for a set of deadlifts you will feel your entire back (spine, traps, lats)
