Uh ok, I came over here cuz of all the people bitching on the foo fighters white limo video. Personally i like white limo more, but everyone is entitled to their own music preference. This video has a substancial amounts of likes and few dislikes, DT got a Grammy Nomination for this album, and Mangini is doing a great job covering up for Portnoy... so whats the problem? Don't shoot the messanger, but some people need to get over it. The past is the past and there is nothing anyone can do to change it.
I loved new album.. I ll always love DT music but seriously, wtf is wrong with all those DT music videos, most of them have really bad qualified special effects, like.. some amateurs who can use after effects are making them.. its the only negative part about DT.

I always knew DT was a religious band but never cared before because it wasn't as in your face. With this album, I feel kind of alienated by them, because it uses religious lyrics and symbolism so heavily.

In fact, I am glad they didnt win because If DT gets too far out there in popularity, they will become mainstream and too many people wont give them the respect they deserve. Example: power metal band Rhapsody of Fire. If they become too well known in the U.S, people will treat them just as another Dragonforce band. And thats not what they are out to be known for.

Mike Portnoy brought originality and experimental concepts that are no longer relevant in this band anymore. Not every thing that Mike tried worked but it least it wasn't predictable.

It's the Grammy's people. They never choose the true best for their categories. Remember the first Hard Rock/Metal Grammy? Jethro Tull beating out Metallica? I don't have much respect for Metallica after 88, but still, Jethro Tull should not have won. Just like Dream Theater shouldn't have lost to Foo Fighters. Just glad it wasn't Sum 41 who beat them.
@jamie30jamer I hate when people say that they should win because their the most technical band, it's not a bands talent that makes them famous it's the choices they make, Wasting Lights has overall better songs, not guitar, not drumming but the final product was amazing.

I have listened to both, and there are some weaker songs on Wasting Light. (White Limo). A Dramatic Turn Of Events is a strong album from beginning to end with no filler.
One of the better things I did on YouTube was to subscribe to Roadrunner recors, they shook me with prog metal all day long, except for nickelback lol

IMO, DT made a wrong move by getting Mike Mangini as their new drummer. He's an awesome drummer nonetheless but he's not a good pick for DT. DT should have picked Blake Richardson from BTBAM. His drumming could make old DT songs sound fresher and he could have made the drumming in ADTOE a lot better. I really hope Mangini departs DT at 2013, and goes back to Berklee that way Richardson could step in full time. Peace.
Listen guys, I know you're upset about the Grammys, but, honestly, how important are they? They're based on who votes for who, & fans, with very few exceptions (like Cristti), will always vote for their favorite artists. It's a popularity contest, nothing more. If it's not based on actual talent, it's not reliable.

Dream Theater is in general going in a more mainstream and accessible metal-esque path now though. Some intros and riff I quickly pass off as being very generic, like the into to Build Me Up And Break Me Down. I just can't hear Dream Theater in that song except for Petrucci doing his usual ostinati.
Foo Fighters is my favorite band. I love them to death, but the Hard Rock category should've been won by Dream Theater. I was not aware of this song, heard it yesterday and now I can't stop listening to it.

Come on people, skrillex was in the grammys. They just basically give them out. Dream Theater is a special thing. In fact, I am glad they didnt win because If DT gets too far out there in popularity, they will become mainstream and too many people wont give them the respect they deserve. Example: power metal band Rhapsody of Fire. If they become too well known in the U.S, people will treat them just as another Dragonforce band. And thats not what they are out to be known for.

It's the Grammy's people. They never choose the true best for their categories. Remember the first Hard Rock/Metal Grammy? Jethro Tull beating out Metallica? I don't have much respect for Metallica after 88, but still, Jethro Tull should not have won. Just like Dream Theater shouldn't have lost to Foo Fighters. Just glad it wasn't Sum 41 who beat them.

I have listened to both, and there are some weaker songs on Wasting Light. (White Limo). A Dramatic Turn Of Events is a strong album from beginning to end with no filler.

IMO, DT made a wrong move by getting Mike Mangini as their new drummer. He's an awesome drummer nonetheless but he's not a good pick for DT. DT should have picked Blake Richardson from BTBAM. His drumming could make old DT songs sound fresher and he could have made the drumming in ADTOE a lot better. I really hope Mangini departs DT at 2013, and goes back to Berklee that way Richardson could step in full time. Peace.

They're based on who votes for who, & fans, with very few exceptions (like Cristti), will always vote for their favorite artists. It's a popularity contest, nothing more. Dream Theater is in general going in a more mainstream and accessible metal-esque path now though. Some intros and riff I quickly pass off as being very generic, like the into to Build Me Up And Break Me Down. I just can't hear Dream Theater in that song except for Petrucci doing his usual ostinati.
