Its weird. I dont know too much about theory but you can actually use D minor also. They are pretty much same notes but when I change it back to A minor it sounds like making mistakes, butr after ahile it starts to sound ok with A minor too again.

badass!i just discovered youtube backing tracks today and ive been missing out. D minor can work but some of the notes clash. C major pentatonic works as well as A minor pentatonic. Just a tip to anyone who doesn't know, using the major/minor theory, you can move three frets up from the minor pentatonic and play the major pentatonic and vise versa.

@HerrFischauge I just realised I said Cminor, I meant major. and it's either an inversion of a G7M chord or a Dadd11 :) add your thumb to the 3rd fret of the low E string to make it more dominantly G :)
