  • this type of instrument actually has brought back to Erope by the crusadors about hmm 700 or 800 years ago from Arab... then it has evolved to the piano-forte.. it was a popular instrument around 17 to 18 century in Europe.. so Dont be suprised when you see this type of instrument in Arab and Asia

  • sehr schön interpretiert, klasse!

  • I can't listen to this beautiful version of The Butterfly enough...

  • I just love your rendition of this song. I'm just getting started with the hammer dulcimer and would love to try this song. Would you share the music?

  • Thanks !! We actually don't have the arrangement written down. You can find "the Butterfly" in several HD books or just try looking on the net for an arrangement.

  • Try looking at the website of Cliff Moses; there is a pdf file for this song. I can't seem to post the URL.

  • Excellent! One of my favorite songs!!

  • Thank you!

  • Love the sound of the instrument, I play the similar instrument called SANTUR from Iran

  • Thanks so much for the compliment!

  • Excellent sound - my own hammered dulcimer is a Thai khim, but being of primarily Scottish heritage, what I play on it still tends to sound a bit Celtic. I hope you post more videos!

    Peace, Love and Light,

    Cori

  • really nice :D

where does the melody come from??

where can i access a copy of it??

  • It's an Irish tune, you can google it, and there's a version in Karen Ashbrook's Playing Hammered Dulcimer in the Irish Tradition. If you google "BBC Irish Sessions" you will find a virtual jam session with the music and musicians playing it with you!

    I esp like Stringfield's version.

  • me too!

    thanks. =]

  • "The Butterfly" is what I have heard this tune called before. Is that what you call it?

  • Yes, I guess I forgot to include that ... hmmm, I'll have to fix that!

  • Great songs, what kind of hammered dulcimer is that?

  • Gail plays a Nick Blanton and mine is a James Jones.

  • Great Irish Tune!

  • you guys are great

  • Thanks! You are are first commentor, we're glad you enjoyed it.
