@Wavedude21101 Yo, D man...blasting 486's with a powerful weapon sure beats shooting wolves and Bambi and beating baby seals, too. No more "ILLEGAL OPERATION" from that old crapper.
I once found a commodore pet siting behind a dupster, it would have taken it home with me but it must have been there for years because it had HUGE rust holes
I found an old deskpro near the trash, would've been excellent if I hadn't fried the ps! A few months later I find another one, still working and running freeBSD. As the name implies,Free for free :D
Well, since I didn't have enough space, I donated it to a recycling center. That's how I "trasj" systems. If not, they hang out on my wall...decorations!
I agree with you, people are wasteful, but unfortunately, it's still legal to throuw it out in Canada...and not only it can be salvaged, but it's contents are toxic.
Who would throw that away when they could use the parts inside? Even though they might not be able to do much, you could still spare the parts you might need if you were going to build another, like the power supply, the IDE cables, the floppy cables, the drives (even if the HDD is small, it could come in handy as a second) and maybe the fans. People are stupid to throw away computers. It's actually illegal. Thanks for saving something that is actually useful.
Ya I can see by the shitty clothes they wear, and how they smell like shit, they must be raking in the dough. They drive those rust buckets, those are the new Rolls Royce's
Haha! I was aware of that poor performance. Oh well, I tried, and indeed, I was able to make a full run of coffee yet it still wasn't finished. FYI, if you want to look at something interesting, google "Windows XP on 8MHz system"
My dad tried Microsoft Flight Simulator on his Ericsson PC. It was an IBM clone, except it only had an 8088 CPU. The game ran at an incredible 0.2 fpm!
The thing is...I DO have a job, and I pick them up for the sake of salbaging them. Of course, you rich kid doesn't need to salvage anything...you buy them a costy prices. I do my part to salvage some older components and I actually also DONATE them. Man, It proves you don't have a head if you thought that far.
So do I. I just have the want to see what's inside the PC when they're by the road. There's no way I'm going to jump in a dumpster. If it's by the road on the day before garbage day, I take it.
Yes, my son shot a 486 with a 50 caliber bullet. We are still proud that we sent that POS to electronics hell.....

The "unknown" connector is a BNC, or Bayonet Naur Connector. It's used for connecting computers to a network with a coaxial cable.
Pretty useless, but I thought you might like to know what it was.
inclusivedisjunction 4 years ago 3
Actually, yes, I needed to know what it is. You never know in a networking environement, what they use. Thanks!

It eventually did, after messing with the BIOS. CMOS battery was dead.

So do I. Those are not intended for self-use. Those are for mainly parts, so I can donate to needy places. It helps both others, and my wallet.

I did. This guy has full potential for Windows 98.
lhuser 4 years ago
ergh, keep it as it is! or if you want to be ghetto, put Windows 3.11 on it and network it ;)
burkezillar 4 years ago
I believe it already has an ISA card on it :p
However, du to space limitations, I had to throw it out.
extremerocker70 4 years ago
Yea but the 486 is running Windows 95.
